2016 WRB BRZ Checking In!

Hey everyone! I've been a lurker on here for about a year but I finally decided to partake in the shenanigans.

I ordered my '16 BRZ in Oct. 2015 and picked it up Dec. 2015. It's my first-ever Subaru and I couldn't be happier with the community so far.

Here she is:

Thanks! I absolutely love it. I owned a 2007 Fit for about eight years so this was a great upgrade and change of pace.

The WRB color looks stunning in your first picture at the dealership!

My previous car was also a Honda, a 2000 Civic Si which I still own. I agree with you that the BRZ is definitely a change of pace. I'm enjoying the BRZ more and more every time I drive it.

Thank you! I loved my Fit to death and it held up beautifully over the eight years that I had it but having recently graduated, moved, and started my career in 2015 I decided that it was time for a treat to myself.

Here is what she looked like right before I got rid of her:

Sweet looking Fit.

Is that a headlight retrofit? I've also retro'd my Civic as seen here.

That looks awesome! It was my favorite upgrade on the car, by far.

Yes, it was a retrofit. I did it in Dec. 2014. Mini D2S, 5000K bulbs, and blue LED demon eyes from LEDConcepts.

Retrofitting headlights was an addition, I had 3 different set ups since 2011 on my Civic. The projectors in the BRZ headlights actually are the same as the RX350 projectors I used in my current retrofit for my Civic.

I've actually been thinking about getting D4S Osram CBI 5K bulbs for the BRZ, but not sure if it would void the warranty if the headlight parts failed in the future.

I feel like bulb replacement would not void the warranty on the headlights - but even if it does, just replace the stock bulbs before going in to claim it. Those bulbs would require a new ballast though, if I am not mistaken.

The Osram CBIs 5K have the same base (D4S) as OEM. It would just be a bulb swap, no extra parts needed and the OEM ballast can be used.

I am not positive but I read somewhere that the OEM bulbs on the car are Osram supplied. Only difference is that the CBI bulbs are a little whiteish/faint blue color.

Gotcha - as long as the OEM ballast is compatible with them then it should not be a problem. Just swap the OEM bulbs back in and you're good to go.

themadscientist 03-14-2016 08:24 AM

Hate you....

I promised myself only the wheel upgrade, but the BC tails are so much cooler than the factory ones. I can't buy an Aventador, but dammit, I can steal the taillights!

Sweet, I am waiting for the exact same kind this month....expected port delivery is 3/18 and at the dealership around the 31st!

I had the same idea! I'm waiting with buying new wheels until the tires on the car are closer to "death". The taillights, combined with the Valenti in the bumper, look great in my opinion!

The wait is a killer but it's 100% worth it! I ordered in October and picked up December 21 of 2015. That feeling you get when you walk up to your car for the first time is amazing.

Trueweltall 03-15-2016 06:09 AM

How do you like the factory radio? Personally I think it blows, I have a lot of connection issues with my phone.

It is slow when it comes to responsiveness but, luckily, I do not have issues with my phone's connectivity to it. Are you using Bluetooth or USB, and what kind of phone? My iPhone 6 works fine with BT and USB. The USB, though, glitches and skips every thirty seconds when I'm running music off of a flash drive.

Wired86 03-15-2016 03:01 PM

I just got my brz last night. My only complaint is that it takes forever to connect my galaxy s4 to the bluetooth. I suspect it may be my crappy old phone's fault though. My phone is always having issues.

Congratulations on finally getting it!
The Bluetooth on my iPhone 6 takes a while, as well. The USB takes about a minute, too, but that's just because the radio has such a relatively long startup time. The USB does not even receive power until thirty seconds after the car starts.

Wired86 03-15-2016 03:14 PM

Weird. I also noticed that it likes it when I give it some gas. ;)

I was jumping onto the interstate last night and before I knew it I was down at the bottom of the ramp in 4th gear going 95mph. lol.

It also really likes to take 25mph corners at about 65. haha. I need to be careful not to get a ticket in my first week....
