Negative comments/remarks thrown at your beautiful car?

I recently saw a post in the FR-S section of the forum about the compliments that people have received because of their car. However, I don't think I've ever seen a post about any negative comments that people have might got from random strangers, friends, family, etc :iono:.

About 1 month into owning my BRZ, i pulled up into a little shopping center so that I could buy some french fries. It was packed so I found an open space right where a group of middle schoolers were hanging out. As soon as i was half way into the burger joint, they yelled out "daaaaaaaaamn thats a gay ass car". At first I didn't think nothing of it assuming they weren't referring to me. I was wrong:thumbdown::thumbdown:. They said the same phrase again as I turned on my car, as I was leaving the parking area and just to make sure that I knew they were talking about me, they decided to to yell "daaaaaamn thats a gay ass car, the red one leaving over there". Yup, my first outspoken haters came in the form of little 13 year old middle schoolers:mad0259:. So does anyone else have a hater story to tell?

gravitylover 03-10-2016 10:15 PM

I don't think a day goes by that my wife doesn't say something negative about my car. She won't even drive it when her car is in the shop. I've given up caring...

Chad86 03-10-2016 10:50 PM

Haters gonna hate. They are probably just jealous and don't know anything about cars. Especially at their age. People who hate this car have no idea what it is all about.

Take pride in ownership of our wicked little cars and don't give a damn what other people think. To each their own.

Spacemane969 03-10-2016 10:56 PM

Just people yelling homophobic slurs because I changed into their lane. Had a lot of people rage for no reason simply because of what the car is.

zigzagz94 03-10-2016 11:09 PM

Who cares....does the car put a smile on your face when you're behind the wheel? That's all that matters.

Joyride86 03-10-2016 11:25 PM

OP, you are undoubtedly a better person than me because I definitely would have said something inappropriate back. It doesn't matter if they are 13 or 100. In this case, these feral disrespectful brats need a reality check.

You should've asked what he/she drives. Then say, "oh wait, you're a pedestrian. Enjoy your walk" and slowly drive away as you roll up the windows.

cjd 03-10-2016 11:26 PM

So far, just fellow owners whining like crazy about how slow and horribly underpowered the car is...

Jonesy86 03-10-2016 11:28 PM

Most car guys call the innovate/sprintes supercharger, "cute". Aside from one vaping dbag in a stock 2007 wrx, i have had no issues. Dude got smoked, btw.

I would have revved the f*** out of my car to shut them up. See how gay that sounds.

ShadowReaper 03-11-2016 12:06 AM

Not near as much negative, as positive comments.

The only one I can remember is this dude with an Integra that did an engine swap, said "Nice.....that's slow" when I mentioned what I had.

BRZtoni 03-11-2016 12:27 AM

my coworkers call my car a prius haha

go_a_way1 03-11-2016 12:30 AM

Well mine is too well done up. The only one that hates on it is @MisterSheep cuz we like to make rice jokes all the time

funwheeldrive 03-11-2016 12:40 AM

People always complain to me about how low the car is whenever they get in.

They have clearly never ridden in an Elise.

This made me sad. My wife isn't into cars, but she understands my love for them.

Definitely puts a smile on my face, I was just asking since our cars are always getting compliments. Wanted to see if anyone got the opposite of it. :D

ryoma 03-11-2016 01:59 AM

every time I take my parents out somewhere they always complain lol. it has come to the point where I just drive their car instead

Yeah man I wanted to but in the end i think i would have looked dumb arguing with littles shits like them. Knowing the type of comebacks these kids say they would have said something mom related or sister. Now there i would have lost it.:mad0260:

Got that right, they just want fast and loud. They're ignorant but they'll learn or maybe not. ehhhh fuck them lol. Will never regret my purchase. :burnrubber:

ZionsWrath 03-11-2016 03:48 AM

I think a lot of people don't have perspective. They call themselves car guys but only ever read spec sheets. Yes this car is cheap and slow. But when it comes to your money what can you do. A lot of people shit talking are driving corollas so doesn't bother me.

Comes to mind for me one guy who "doesn't get" my car. Yet he drives an accord and had some hooptie before that. And likes to talk about drag racing his civic back in the day. But it's OK, same way I don't understand people like that they don't understand us.

86kahl 03-11-2016 04:15 AM

Like a week into owning mine some dude in a slammed MkV r32 pulled up to me and asked why I bought that slow piece of shit so I asked how he's liking his automatic golf.

Some "car enthusiasts" amirite?

I find that odd as I get the most compliments and stares out of that age group. My 14 year old grandson is the coolest kid at the cottage because I drive my car.

My wife despises my car. She has been in it twice and will never, ever ride with me again. She thinks we are going to get run over by a truck and be killed. She isn't joking and truly fears it. Doesn't help that when sitting in it all you see is other vehicles door handles and trailer hitches I guess.

DarkSunrise 03-11-2016 10:58 AM

I haven't gotten anything but compliments from strangers, but my friends and I like to joke around about how slow the car is. It's actually not bad but compared to the 400+ whp cars they drive, yeah it's slow lol.

Romanov 03-11-2016 11:39 AM

I mostly get comments like "why did you buy something so slow" coming from truck guys or Mustang owners lol

I find the "fastness" of the car to be adequate enough for what it is.
The car handles incredibly well, and puts on a smile on my face every time.
That being said, I was out with friends last night and as we met in a parking lot they were admiring my BRZ.

Later that night we saw this jag F-type parked, and a couple people commented how it looks so much like the BRZ...and in some ways, prefer the looks of the BRZ.
I said yeah, but that Ftype is $126k, and about 300 more hp!

They both said they were amazed at how much the 2 cars resembled each other, and that the BRZ pulls off its sexiness so well for so little.

pinski 03-11-2016 01:16 PM

I've honestly gotten nothing but compliments on the car, even though my fiancee doesn't like it much. That said, I seem to have been the recipient of more aggressive drivers near me than in any other car I've owned.

I just get grief for how slow it is.

Always receiving compliments about looks though, lol.

MisterSheep 03-11-2016 02:16 PM

I've gotten TONS of negative comments about my car. They're posted throughout the forum when I ranted about them:brokenheart:

Was talking about my last track day and the father in-law asked me which car I took. When I said the frs, he giggled with his buddy and I told them they should join me next time. They both asked me how would I be able to keep up? One drives a 2016 Mustang GT (automatic), and the other a c6 Vette (also automatic). They both ran almost 10 sec a lap slower at Buttonwillow so w/e... in their defense it was their first time
