Looks overpriced you can do add most those options things for far less.

The black PVD rims are pretty nice. I'd buy them off an owner in a heartbeat

Nothing on this vehicle screams 32k for me. It's like a fully optioned BRZ + 5k "premium" paint.

Well, now, that's a pretty little thing ......but I already have one that looks a lot like it .....:)

its over priced but if the leather is real I think it would be worth it. The brz leather is garbage.

I would love this car. I know the 86 community doesn't really care for it but I love what it speaks to. As Andrew Gilleland said, a car you can track during the day and hit the red carpet with at night. It remains that sports coupe miata rival while the brown camel leather suits the business man or woman. I think the RS 1.0 was the boy's race car and the RS 2.0 is the man's sports car. However, the asking price for a manual at just below 30,000 is utterly ridiculous. I love the camel interior and even love the paint and aero kit pieces but it still lacks so much from what a BRZ offers. Vanity mirror illumination, heated mirrors, courtesy lights, fog lights. The color is beautiful and the camel interior is nice but even the TRD wheels are exactly the same as the series blue wheels with a different logo. Give them a look. the dash piece is one of my favorites because I don't like feaux carbon or the BRZ silver trim and the 2.0 comes with alcantara wrapped . but still I can't see where they think 30,000 is reasonable.

By series blue do you mean the Hyperblue BRZ ? If so then no they're not the same. 2.0 has a all new wheel

Series Blue (USA)/Aozora (Canada) aka "toned down" version of Japan's BRZ tS model minus all the "blue" accents of the interior...

Hyperblue is a new thing they came up with which just means they changed the colour to a more unique baby blue...

This what we have in North America anyways.

Purely cosmetic and no real performance upgrades. I don't care about this at all. We don't need luxury in a car like this.

Hm... that's not fully true. Not everyone is looking for performance from this car. Some people want luxury features from this car. Yes, I know, it sounds crazy, but I've heard it often.

They're actually very different from the finish to the design. The spokes on the 2.0 wheels taper out to the rim whereas the Series.Blue do not. The black PVD finish also looks less dark compared to the gloss black STI rims.

If I didn't have my current BRZ, and was looking for one.... this would be the one I'd buy. I like the interior and color and the wheels are cool. Plus it has the BRZ climate control. Throw some fog lights on it, and it is a winner.

I would want to see the actual colour in real life but otherwise am with you 100% on that.

Well since the Release Series version is a Scion thing then waiting for a 3 may be a huge mistake!

I saw the color on an outback recently at the auto show. I liked it. I really feel like that might be an "adult" frs if that makes any sense. Kind of classy.

Nah, you can definitely reupholster the seats and interior seen a couple builds on here do it and the leather will be better than whats in there more than likely.

But realistically speaking not everyone have an option to do custom upholstering. Some people prefer not to modify their car, but want luxury at the same time. Some ppl demand so much from this car lol

And to custom do all of the interior to the level of the rs 2 it would probably cost more than the difference in price of the car anyway.


You are actually getting quite a list of stuff on that car for the money. It isn't just a "body kit and some wheels" as so may like to state.




All the guys screaming "we want the options all the other countries have" are in for a shock if they think they are going to get those for the price of a base FRS. There is a perfectly valid reason why the cars were cheaper as Scions that they are as Toyotas in the rest of the world.

The same as this one is not being marketed for the demographic that fills this forum but they all freak out because it isn't what they like.


This was discussed at length on another thread but the marketing on this version is aimed squarely at the young(ish), professional, woman that wants a sports coupe with a bit of luxury or upscale appearance. Don't believe me? Go to You Tube and look for the videos on it (I would post them but I am at work). I don't think that many here would be sold on the car by ads featuring ankle bracelets and exotic cats with diamond collars.


If they do not broaden the market on these cars they will just die off. The fanboys can only buy so many before they have to make changes to attract a more varied audience. This Release is only the beginning I fear.

It's just a low-key, subconscious way people cope with their emotions when they realized they could've waited x-amount of months before splurging on a regular non-special edition model :brokenheart:

so really the only car they can release without any complaints would be a car that has:

- front lip
- side skirts
- rear *functional* diffuser
- Nice wheels
- leather interior
- turbo






















This car sucks! i can't believe it's $40 000! i'd rather get another car for that price!!!!!

I am liking that interior stitching. The green paint looks like day old avocado.
