Navigation Upgrade
I know there are tons of prior threads to this topic, but instead of bumping an old thread, I just decided to make a new one.
My question is, are there ANY free map updates? Or is the only ones available the newest one (being the 2015/2016) update, or is there a way to get the 2014 update free now that it is a year obsolete... I just bought my 2013, and it still has the 2011 Q1 maps....which is just sad. |

My used 2014 BRZ had maps from 2012 (not so bad as your copy), but in 2015 the 2013-2014 update was free. It looks like the upgrades are on a two year cycle, meaning in 2017, we'll probably be offered a free upgrade to 2015-2016. Pop your SD card out of the head unit (be sure everything is turned off) and "navigate" your desktop or laptop computer to Subaru-na.Naviextras.com, sign up and then plug in your SD card. Under "Upgrades" you'll find what you've got and what you're eligible to download. You will then have a modded sports car! Enjoy! PS: If you're already tinkering with software, you have probably already discovered that the nav unit is not so bad, and the stereo can be equalized to sound pretty good (especially if you spring the $11/month for SiriusXM). Have fun with your new Subiota -- I love mine! |

I went to the site and all I found was 150 to do an upgrade

@pfaffendorn - That was well worth reading. I had no idea, honestly.

you can also get a list of speed cameras/red light cameras and upload it to your SD card. then enable the alerts in your head unit and you will be alerted whenever you go near a speed or red light camera. you can also see an icon if you have your navigation screen open. there was a thread about it, but I forgot what it was called.

All I see at https://subaru-na.naviextras.com/ is that I have the old 13.04.2013 maps, and anything newer (2015/2016) is $149.99 :(

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85349 The old link directly to the Becker Z page doesn't work, but when given the opportunity you simply select "Becker Traffic Assist Z" as your device. I decided to go ahead and purchase the latest maps from naviextras. Downloading now. I drive ~2000 miles per month, and I'm a little tired of the stupid maps trying to send me the wrong way down one-way streets, telling me to turn left off of overpasses (on multiple occasions) and indicating that I'm off-roading when I can clearly see a four lane highway laid out in front of me. The 2011 maps were accurate around 2003, so maybe the 2015-16 maps will bring me up to 2011. |
