I miss driving my car

So much that i needed to make a thread about it.

please weather stop pmsing so i can take my cover off and work on my car in my rock driveway so i can drive it again.

My e39 does not bring as much excitement as my brz.

I'm with you! Waiting for the snow to stop and temps to climb so I can get my FR-S out of hibernation.

Mr.Impreza 02-18-2016 11:18 AM

haha, same here guys. I've been going to the garage daily and just looking at it and hoping spring comes soon!

Tectoniic 02-18-2016 11:37 AM

why not drive it in the winter :iono: it's a blast in the snow!

echo419 02-18-2016 11:39 AM

This^ Do I need to post my pics for the 500th time!
I know you guys want to keep them perfect but some simple winter maintenance migrates most of the problems that could come up. Mine takes more of a beating on the highway in the summer than it ever has in the winter.

Because I do not want the car to get rusty..lol. And my Lip kit is expensive and to much of a PITA to take off for the winter time because of 3m tape. Plus I have another car that is also terrible in the snow but i care significantly less about it because its older.

I've seen what the damn grime or salt or whatever they are using does to a small amount of surface rust that was barely noticable..

My gfs trunk had a very small surface rust spot and i said oh ill repair it after winter...Well the whole corner of the trunk is rotted after winter.. lol

Does she have a twin? I have left a bad chip on my front fender for two winters now as an experiment and it has just started to change colour.

nickmerronesucks 02-18-2016 12:47 PM

Also my winter storage was strongly encouraged because I was like okay i guess im going to store it for winter let me fill the tank and add some stabilizer..so i do that then im like let me rip it one more time...1st....slam second BOOM. axle broke. pushed it home and parked since.

Lol

Nah, an E36. lol Im sure the surface rust was there for a while so that didnt help much

I miss driving my car too. I will never drive in through a NY winter. They salt the roads until there is more salt than snow. And it isn't weird to have over a foot of snow on the roads. I have driven a FC3S and a convertible 240sx in the winter and it really took a toll on them. Besides it is nice having winter to do things to your car with no time restraint.

I needed to use my AC last week, hot February...

I feel ya. Another 3 weeks then I'll take it out, probably still can't really drive it for a few more after that though

00NissanNinja 02-18-2016 10:58 PM

I can't wait for winter to be done with either. I really want to get back to some regular driving. Done driving it in the snow two winters in this salty hell have turned my front bumper into a chipped mess and rusted my end links. No amount of regular washing can defeat the salt lovers here. Its a fun winter car sure, but I sure don't want it to look like crap years from now. They salt way to much here in Ohio. I could get way with driving it in CO, not here though. My other car can eat that pain, its more so made for it anyways.

headlikeahole 02-18-2016 11:27 PM

I love driving mine in the snow but winters in the maritimes are so hard on cars. They salt the roads more then anywhere else and the temps are consistently changing from cold to warm so that salt water melts into every nook and cranny.

I miss my car so much I have spent at least 15+ hours in the garage, waxing and detailing over and over.

lucky i wish i had a garage. My car is just sitting under the cover that occasionally blows up and i can only imagine if its scratched to shit or not :(

I waxed the shit out of it before covering it. so hopefully that helps.. i did get a nip slip last time the cover blew up and the car still looks clean.

If it flaps around I'd probably just not cover it

I'm glad I'm not alone....my '97 Ram is doing the trick in the snow but I obsess about getting back into that car everyday.. Hopefully only a few more weeks.. What's worse is I have Pirelli's and XXR 530's waiting in the wings!

it doesnt flap around but when its insanely windy out the front starts to come up. I think its because the cover isn't made to fit over a huge front lip like i have.. its strapped on the sides, and the cover is very tight otherwise. But it struggles to cover the front lip. So i have to kinda stretch it.

Mr.Impreza 02-19-2016 01:12 PM

I use my Honda Accord for the winter. Why abuse the car i love in the winter? I want to keep my twin MINT and also it's a great feeling to get into a car you love after not driving it all winter and taking it out for that first spin and falling love all over again!
