TOYOTA RECALLING 26,000 SCION FRS CARS 2013-201616

http://www.autonews.com/article/2016...-s-sports-cars

"Toyota said in a statement that some vehicles’ automatic transmission key interlocks might not have been connected before sale. That can cause a key to be removed even if the gear position is not in “park,” increasing the risk of rollaways and crashes."

http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases...+fr-s+feb9.htm

Edit: Here's the DIY http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101284.

I know the key used to fall out when my parents drove our old Grand Cherokee (1993). Years from now when the keys are more worn I'd be scared too if it came out when driving.

And here we go again

BTW there is already a thread on this with a DIY solution

edit:http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101284

And In before lock

Sorry. Thought something like this would go into the "General Forum", where more people are likely to see it.

Remove thread if necessary.

Shit never goes where it should lol! The pros read this site by refreshing the "new posts" screen

Doesn't hurt to be here a bit just to direct to the one with the DIY if nothing else.

Would you buy a TV and refuse to use the remote control? What about your computer, would you rather use a command prompt to do everything, or would you rather a GUI? Would you rather manually crank your car, or have the starter motor do it? AED or CPR?

Take a hike and realize whether AT or MT, all it is, is a personal choice, and nothing else. Not a "should be" or "better", just a choice.

LOL AUTOMATICS

Just kidding. I'm not just saying that because I don't want to get yelled at too. That really sucks for you guys. I assume Subarus will be recalling their auto BRZs as well?

Assuming so as they are made in the same factory where the same technician or robot didn't clip the interlock connector in, I don't have access to subarus "Techstream" I only have access to toyotas thats how I uploaded that document for everyone to see.

Not a big deal really, will be fixed easily, 26k vehicles and an easy fix that they can just simply apply. Very different from millions of vehicles requiring a part replacement, meaning someone has to produce and deliver millions of parts to the dealrships first.

finch1750 02-10-2016 01:15 AM

I still dont know why this is even a problem :iono:

It's not, in fact it's an easy just plug a connector in fix, it's just because toyota did an official NHTSA sanctioned recall it means everyone has to get it at least checked.

I have keyless ignition in my AT GT86. I can take my fob out of the car while it's running. I can even go inside and wait for it to warm up.
I've never tried getting out if the car when it's in drive... I wonder if there's a failsafe for that?

If there is, then the engineers at Toyota and Subaru have clearly lost all faith in humanity.

Or at least, gained some faith in human stupidity.
