Cup holder rubber insert?

Anyone find a cup holder insert that would hold a coffee mug more securely? I use a thermos brand coffee mug and it slides around in the cup holder and makes me very nervous. I havent been able to find any specifically for the FR-S. Does anyone know of something that would work?

How about trying a beer koozie? I think it might work for what you're looking for.

Thats a pretty good idea. I would rather it not be on the mug but its a quick fix for now.

Yeah rather that than hot coffee everywhere. You could look for OEM Toyota rubber cup inserts. I'm not sure if they'll fit exactly though. I had them for a RAV4 and thought it would be pretty close.

I saw that online but was not sure if it would fit.

Glue foam padding on the sides of the cupholder to match your coffee cup?

Riftur 02-07-2016 11:18 PM

i was thinking of getting a small black rubber mat and cutting them to fit around the inside of the cupholder. Attached with double sided tape. But it needs to be the right color and thickness.

What about a magnet? That'd be pretty trick and could hold pretty tight... dunno, just throwing out ideas. I don't drink coffee so I always use the door one

Cut it down to fit and glue it into the cupholder. Then it's only on the mug when the mug is in the cupholder.

thats a good point also. I need to get a black one. I think you solved my problem. Just gonna use double sided tape so it can be removed with no damage.

Thick rubberband(s) on cup.

Vent cup holder?

Something like:

that would be cool but not sure if it would actually hold it well.

I put some tool box mat in the bottom of the center console to keep things from sliding, maybe something like that?

I think the problem is that his thermos tumbler is too tall and wants to tumble right out of the cup holder and do a Jackson Pollock on his interior. Thus he needs something to wrap around it to secure it on all sides.

Along those lines, @Riftur I have wrapped a band around the inside of the cup holder with the desired thickness of sticky-one-sided, foam window insulation.

Those rubber factory inserts are a PITA. My Mustang had them and every time you take you cup out, the insert comes with it lol

bcj 02-08-2016 12:19 PM

I've got a cardboard insulator ring from a latte cup that decided to stay there by itself.
Seems to work.

Hey, should I plasti-dip it?

go_a_way1 02-08-2016 12:21 PM

Memory foam around the inside would hold it nice?

Bed for the crickets?

Riftur 02-08-2016 12:51 PM

I just used the fuzzy side of a strip of Velcro. I think it needs one more layer and it will be secure. I might have to glue the second layer onto it though since the fuzzy side might not let the sticky side adhere to it well. The beer koozie was to thick.

hmmm......just put the two sides together and don't pull the tape off of the sticky side that's going to be on the inside next to the cup ...... :)

Someone made a left turn in front of me while I was going through an intersection. I had the right of way. It was fun a few months later when she tried to sue me.

Fun that she tried to sue at all this being Canada. Hard to sue even when it actually is the other person's fault.

The double layer of Velcroe worked awsome. The mug fits nice and snug and there is no chance of it sliding or falling over. I will add some pics tomorrow in case anyone else has this issue. Its looks pretty good also.

Under normal lighting it looks great actually. The flash from the camera lets you see things you dont normally see.
