Time to get your Release 2.0
Build & Find
Only 1000 made so time's a wasting! https://www.scion.com/cm-img/pages/m...compressed.png |
The color
The wheels  |
I admit, I love those camel accents on the interior. Otherwise, there's not much this offers that isn't already on my Monogram so not much incentive for me to make a change anyway. :)
I also think the Lunar Storm works better in certain geographical regions where the environment seems to sort of go along with it. There's a reason most of the promo stuff I saw had it in the desert - it's definitely a SoCal/Southwest sort of color to me. |
the color suck, the rim looks good tho.
|
That's the interior I would love to see in my hot lava twin. :D
|
cant wait til someone starts making reps of that lip though

That interior is pretty sharp..for an FR-S
|
I should say something nice, but sorry, can't.
Another garage queen which costs about 4000 ? dollars over the base model. White exterior with saddle (really looks orange) interior. Nothing I could actually, practically use on this model. Who needs auto climate controls and heated seats for a car which sits garaged most of it's life ? And a front lip which helps me find those parking stops more quickly, no thanks. What I could use ?...a front facing camera in the grille, navigation system included on the audio system. If this is the Scion marketing, no wonder they're out the door with their Logo. OK, I could be slightly tempted by one of those bright yellow models...saw three on a lot last year in Key West...yet those too expensive also, even more than this white car. Give me a car that drives, leave the bling for those who care not about driving. My car just gets driven and used daily. No time for showing off what's essentially here.. bad taste. |
That interior with the silica black would be so luxurious looking. :D
|
hmmmm........the color looks like my white 2013, when it's dirty......:(

Good thing they were not making it for you isn't it there Toy? They are trying for a whole different demographic than is on this forum with this release. The whole "upscale" thing does not target us but more the "luxury" coup crowd (see below). Boy is that crowd gonna be pissed when they find out they bought a slightly dressed up economy sports car complete with all the little oddities that goes with it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RUj...ature=youtu.be https://youtu.be/WASX8fCU4kQ |

Ok, I see this 2.0 is being marketed to mostly women with white collar jobs. Why shouldn't they have a little fun as well as us. For me, I'll wait for the 2.1 version in dark green, with solely the basics...manual transmission, a/c, power brakes, and maybe (not sure) power steering. Don't need a radio or any of those frills like key fob, power windows, etc. Rear seat delete ? Sounds like a good idea. Keep the weight down at any cost. Gimme a touch more power under the hood as well. Then I'm good to go. Oh, if I could really 'build your own' my way...I'd be in heaven ! |

What this is for is for people who aren't very flashy and aren't looking to attract much attention. They want some performance for what is still a pretty decent price while still driving something that looks mature and polished. Yes - it's an entirely different market from where most of us are, but it's perfectly legitimate and I can think of plenty of men that fall into that category just as well as a few women... and not all of them are white collar, either. |

I agree and don't agree at the same time. Did you watch those vids? This is not targeted at somebody that wants performance and no flash but squarely at the young(ish) white collar woman. This is not being done as a stereotype at all but as a demographic (of which it legitimately is). I mean really, an exotic cat with a diamond collar rolling around on a seat and a bejeweled foot and ankle caressing a dash certainly do not scream performance. This is being marketed as a "luxury" coupe at a very specific group and men are not in it. Someplace in the first promotional material (can't find it) there is a picture of a "business woman" (the pic is a horrid stereotype actually) climbing into the car. Not saying men will not like, nor buy it but they are not targeted in the marketing materials. The tag line even states "Weird Luxury". All that said I stand by my statement that anybody buying this as a "luxury" car is going to be disappointed. |

What you want isn't economically feasible because you would demand to pay less for it. You'll never see that offered in this market. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Caution opinion alert proceed with caution I think the time we would have seen a stripped down version over here is gone already. I strongly believe that the RS2 is the direction the car will head in to capture more market share. The guys with the original passion had their crack at it and now it is slowly getting turned over to the marketing crew. The car has to evolve to survive and the whole original "purpose" sometimes gets lost in that growth. If this car heads down the luxury coupe route it will get increased sound proofing, softer suspension, 200 way power seats, lumbar massagers and so on and so on. Anything they can add to get those 10 more customers will be added and screw the guys that loved it for what it was. We have seen this happen to many of the greats and it is almost inevitable to happen here as well. There will still be "performance" versions available I am sure but they will no longer be in the FRS/BRZ price range. The other reasonably possible scenario is they just put out a couple more MYs and end the whole thing. Time will tell and I hope that I am proven wrong since I will need a new one in 4 more years! |
Those wheels should have been the stock trim in 2012. So much better.
Love that lip too. |
I really want one because i love the BRZ amenities but the only subaru dealer is an hour away, and my local Toyota dealer has been good to me. But on the other hand they are charging 39 999 for a 1.0 series :(

The RS 2.0 is nice, but I feel like people might regret getting one with the refresh just around the corner sporting the fancy Toyota badge. |
Quote:
I still intend to rebadge mine at one point since I just simply like Toyota better. Here's hoping that the 86 airbag will make its way to U.S. shores as well. |

here is my local dealers 1.0 http://www.courtenaytoyota.com/en/us...es-10/6942142/ I think the new 2.0's colour will look nice with black accents, and if my dealer can find one with out jacked up prices I would have zero regrets. |
