Is this in regards to Toyota's rumored drop off the Scion brand? If so, I imagine the FR-S will sport a toyota badge for 2017.

tracerit 02-03-2016 04:35 AM

seems official here: http://www.motortrend.com/news/break...brand-the-axe/

Luftwaffel 02-03-2016 06:34 AM

I'll just jump right on and ride this post count inflation train.

Tcoat 02-03-2016 06:46 AM

The reality of this will be seen today if there is one accurate word in the articles.

The Car Buzzard clickbait site reporter that is quoted as the source must have some strong pull.

"Word on the street is that tomorrow morning, the Scion division of Toyota will cease to exist. At a top-secret meeting this afternoon, employees were told that the division, which started with the xA and xB in 2002 as 2003 models, wouldn’t see it’s 14th anniversary."

Summerwolf 02-03-2016 08:29 AM

I mean if scion got the axe and they didn't convert to Toyota would it be that bad?

Then everyone would have the option choices they all want without having to wait / find / buy some inflated special edition.

GeorgeJFrick 02-03-2016 10:36 AM

I'm still confused why we're talking about Subaru at all. Is the assumption that Toyota "could" shut down Subaru? Cause that's re-t... it's stupid.

Can we not do 1,000 threads?

jawn 02-03-2016 10:38 AM

I guess I'll be back on in the afternoon when everyone's figured out that these posts aren't funny.

KR-S 02-03-2016 11:45 AM

go_a_way1 02-03-2016 03:35 PM

Welp BRZ's wont be as rare as the FRS in 5 years now :)

carma143 02-03-2016 03:39 PM

At the rate of FRS being totalled I bet the FRS will be quite rare. We'll have to update its status to "Threatened" and later, "Endangered".

Well, a lot of us didn't fall for the marketing gimmicks Scion was pushing.

I'm quite happy Scion is no more, less drivers out there blasting dubstep.

DAEMANO 02-03-2016 06:23 PM

Brand loyalty with badge engineered cars is really freaking weird.

CarzCarzCarz 02-03-2016 06:57 PM

So, does this make the FR-S a collectable now, or in future?

With the existing number of roughly 10 FRSs to each BRZ. If they continue to make BRZs at the current rate then it will still take 10 years for them to catch up.
Unless they keep smashing up Lavas and that could shorten it by a few days.

Only if you collect badges. The car is not gone just the badge.

Then I am going to every single wrecking yard/ pcik-n-pull and taking all of the scion badges off of every single scion car. I will have ALL of the scion badges and when no one has scions anymore I will be the only one with the badges!

HEY! I blast Manson and Versailles I will have you know.

Besides at least my FRS will start if I let it sit more than a week and it doesn't sport a 'stash.

Sadly no. And my moustache is hardly epic, though it has been on my face continuously since 1993.

Jfheisenberg 02-03-2016 09:06 PM

How does the BRZ comes into the equation? This is just Toyota killing the Scion brand, has nothing to do with the make of the twins. Plus Toyota just confirm that they will still be making the frs just with a toyota badge.

krayzie 02-03-2016 10:47 PM

Shit does this mean my Scion rubber mats will become collectibles on eBay?
