Well, this is sad.......
|
Rest In Pepperonis.
|
Wanna bet the FRS will become the GT86 again for the American market?
|
Hopefully they finally bring over the gt86 then.
|
I should put the Scion badges back on...
|
Well, this is sad.......
Scion!
|
Scion Gone?
So supposedly scion is closing up shop? what does this mean for the future for our cars?
Would value for the frs go up since it was only produced for about four years? Are we going to be ultra rare cars now? |

Not sad. Scion was a shit brand from the beginning lol

Just read it as well. Sales for the frs were down 25% in 2015 and scion only sold a few cars.
|
you got my back @megamarines
|
Very interesting to think of the future of our FR-S now. Will it become a Toyota? Disappear? Will the Scion version be rare and desirable in 20 years or long and forgotten as everyone has the Toyota.

In a way I'm sad but, i kinda am happy that maybe the scion version will be rare or something and maybe in years the scion version will be the more sought after version of this car. Maybe just maybe?
|
All the sudden the Scion badges on the FRS might be highly coveted instead of reviled... Especially if they just start calling it the Toyota FRS

2016 is the last year of scion?
|
It's about damn time.
|
Maybe they will release a 2nd gen of our cars under Toyota 86?
|
I am glad I got the 10 series....I am part of the history...

As for now: I'll wait for something official :-) |

I wonder if it'll undergo quite moderate design changes and be called a new name to 'trick' people into thinking it's a new car under the Toyota brand to boost sales. "The all-new 2018 Toyota SRF" |
From what I read over the years I think most of the US crowd will be happy to finally get a Toyota 86. Hope the Scion employees are cared after and migrated over to the Toyota family with minimal fuss.
|
It's not that simple.
With the move and internal re-org, employees must "re-apply" for a position at Toyota. But they are given an incentive if they choose to leave the company. That goes for the entire TMS corporation as they prepare the transition to Texas. It's gonna be a few rough years for Toyota internally. We speculate 2020 to be the year when everything finally settles in. |
Yes please.
If the GT86 comes to Canada I'm not even going to wait anymore. The GT86 literally takes all the features and stuff I like from the FR-S and combines it with what I like from the BRZ. |
That sucks, kind of sad. Hope the FRS continues as the GT86 in the US. And really hope there's a 2nd gen GT86 in the US.
|
GT86 lets go lol give us those sexy ass headlights in the US.
@xuimod I'm sure they'll either make it the Toyota FRS or GT86. The FRS sold pretty damn good, for their specific target market. And it wouldn't be the same to not have our twins. |

Edit: So after all the excitement now, I started to look around Google for the sales figures. I didn't find much but apparently our cars aren't selling very well or as well as I thought they were. I find it hard to believe since I have friends in CA saying they see FRS' and BRZs left and right, and I heard it's sold AMAZINGLY in Australia and other parts of the world. But not here in the USA. I don't know exact sales figures, but I hope that with the GT86 or FRS becoming a Toyota brand here in the USA that FRS' will start selling a lot more. I'm sure one of the factors in the case of the FRS was that it simply was a scion. Also potential customers will see the Toyota brand and think of quality and reliability now instead of it just being a scion, kind of like the Civic Si is for Honda, we see the Honda brand and know that it's immediately reliable and has quality to it. I hope our 86s will sell much better and we will see a 2nd generation 86. |
Very unlikely that you'll see a GT-86 likely they're just "done". Parts get pricey while the value of the car crashes. Sad deal really. We shall see..
|
Must be a big deal as we 3 threads started on this very subject.. |
The reality of this will be seen today if there is one accurate word in the articles.
The Car Buzzard clickbait site reporter that is quoted as the source must have some strong pull. "Word on the street is that tomorrow morning, the Scion division of Toyota will cease to exist. At a top-secret meeting this afternoon, employees were told that the division, which started with the xA and xB in 2002 as 2003 models, wouldn’t see it’s 14th anniversary." |

Should this be true, how would it affect vehicles currently on order?
|
Slightly off topic:
"The brand’s no-haggle pricing was another innovative tactic designed to attract new buyers that might otherwise be intimidated by the car buying process. " Did it actually work this way? Was buying a new Scion any different from buying any other new cars (apart from fewer trim level/equipment options)? |
Well guess its time to get toyota badges
This would be my 9th year in a scion. I'm loyal to t he brand because my XB such a good car and went and went till she couldn't go no more, almost getting 200k |
Few things:
1) There is no actual credible source for any of this. 2) "IF" Scion does get axed it doesn't mean the frs will also, it is still being made elsewhere as the 86 and will likely carry over. 3) In what world does an item that is selling so poorly that it gets axed mean that it will become ultra valuable and extremely coveted? Yes it's possible value will go up but it's also possible it will go the way of the numerous other cars that get axed due to poor sales, and go down in value even further (or stay unchanged). |
Maybe we should all just park our cars now and cover them up. In ten years they'll sell at the Barret for ONE MILLION dollars!
|
Will we still be able to go to Toyota for service? I'm under extended warranty but I prefer Toyota/Scion to work on my car over someone else
|

Why not? You can go to Toyota now, at least in my area they are no separate Scion dealerships, only Toyota or Toyota/Scion. Also, the Scion website has always said "Serviceable at any Scion or Toyota dealer" |
