Best side markers

I have a black BRZ. I want to get rid of the side markers for something that is white, smoked or dark smoked, yet retains the yellow bulbs. I was looking at the vehicle code in California, and it seems that the statute for side markers are that the car has to have at darkness amber lights in the front-side, and they have to be visible.

Quote:

(2) At least one amber side-marker lamp on each side near the front and at least one red side-marker lamp on each side near the rear.
Quote:

(e) Clearance lamps shall be visible from all distances between 500 feet and 50 feet to the front or rear of the vehicle, and side-marker lamps shall be visible from all distances between 500 feet and 50 feet to the side of the vehicle.
So apparently there is nothing against having it smoked as long as it is visible (on a clear night obviously) at 500 ft, which isn't hard. I looked it up and a candle could be seen, if clear and if it was flat enough, up to 48 miles away.

With that said, I wanted to get some opinions on something that looked OEM. What styles are out there? I researched and some look cheap ebay'ish or have too much bling or are too busy. Some have individual LEDs so it stands out too much or has the Casino light look. The other thing I didn't find was examples on black BRZ's of all brands, so any pics would help.

Also, I was thinking of upgrading from a standard amber bulb to a LED bulb, but I didn't know if the intensity would be too high or unfitting to the rest of the car's lights.

Bit disturbed about your comment about a candle being visible from 48 miles. You do know the earth isn't believed flat enough anymore in other places of the world?

On a dark night, you could even see a candle flame flickering up to 30 mi. (48 km) away.

You're talking to an atheist with a BS in Physiology who has a avatar that says Science Bitch... dont overread. I did say if.

@malcomhimself ...thanks for the clarification and the link.

Anyways, any ideas on smoked markers anyone? I only see the Helix ones but the light smoke and dark smoke looks just dirty. The other ones they have are too busy and not amber throughout. I would like a plug n play item.

Yea I did. Not many reviews. No ideas on fitment or leak proof or brackets. Not many on black cars for comparison.

OEM JDM clear markers with orange bulbs are great, well made, don't leak, and won't get you hassled at night.

X2. I had cheap Helix ones, and they leaked every time it rained.

Valenti or avest are the best I've come across. Plug-n-play, no relay required and bright enough even for the smoked versions.

Only a small area lights up. Is the rest reflective? If so, is the smoke version refelective?

Amber leds...from which supplier? Do they look appropriately lit to the same level as the other lights or much brighter?

Ebay. The seller had included them in the sale so I don't know bulb manufacturer.
I checked my ebay history and seller doesnt have any listed anymore.
And they are appropriate lit.
