DAMN IT...How did i miss the DGM Limited in San jose?!?!?!!?
|
First time posting on thread!
Saw a listing for a Midnight Blue FR-S at Marin Scion on the 1st and sent in an inquiry. Got a call back later that day and they said the car wasn't spoken for (which the guy sounded perplexed) and that he would look into why. Called back again 15 minutes later and said the car was stuck at port with some starter issue and would not come in until/if fixed. Would call back....nothing yet. The Galaxy Blue Silica one at Maita Subaru has been there for over a week. I had been speaking with the internet manager for almost a month on getting a WRX, but to let me know if any BRZ came in stock. Finally got all my ducks in a row and went last Wednesday because I was quoted 25,600 and 28,000 for WRB WRX and the GBS. When I got there I was told the offers were no longer valid and was instead offered 26,600 (before tax/lisc.) and they were asking for 30k for the BRZ. I offered 28,200 and they still turned me down. Got a call from Fairfield Subaru on the 9th saying they had a silver BRZ in stock and were asking for 27k i believe. I called back around 7 and said I would be in first thing in the morning. Called at 9am and they said the car had been sold (OK, that one was my fault). Got a call from Toyota Vallejo last Friday saying there was a red FR-S in stock and if I was still interested because the person who was ahead of me on the wait list didn't want red. I said sure, I could always paint the car later, and said I would be there in 45 minutes or so (gotta wait for my ride). 10 minutes later got a callback, the person ahead of me changed there mind and was coming in. Would call me again if they backed out.6 Got an email yesterday from Toyota Concord saying a red AT and white MT FR-S were in stock and it's a "race for first come first serve." (Glad to know being #1 on the wait-list secures my spot -__-). Called them up and arranged to be there ASAP (live about 50 mins away). When I was 20 minutes out they called and said someone else came in and was filling out the paperwork. So not to bother coming in. Got a call yesterday from Vacaville Toyota because I saw they had a WHITEOUT FR-S in stock, but found out it was on hold for someone else. Manager said that they were having trouble getting a hold of him and if they didn't hear back from him by this morning they would call me. I called this morning and as of 9.30 they had not heard from him so I said I was on my way. Got there a little before 10 and they pointed out some guy sitting at a desk talking to a finance officer. Apparently this was the guy they had been trying to contact for 2 days, and he just HAPPENED to show up minutes before I arrived. Has anyone had this much problems trying to secure this car? I'm on a wait-list at 5 different dealerships for a FR-S and 1 for the BRZ. P.S. Now that I can finally post I can list any places I find. I'm kinda limited in how far out I can go to get one, so I'll just put up everything I find in the hopes you all don't run into the same problems I have. Good luck everyone! |
There is an Ultramarine A/T at Daly City Scion.
I also have info on a soon-to-be for sale Firestorm and Whiteout with NO port-installed accessories, not even wheel locks or the carpeted trunk mat. If interested you can PM me, but don't PM me if you're not willing to buy a car with the following terms: - Both are Manual Transmission - Both will be sold with Aftermarket Heatable Leather Seats |

Simply stated, yes, they are somewhat difficult to secure. I have been offered about three that I could've purchased, but were the wrong color. Supposedly I am on the wait list for about 5-6 dealerships, and have been into one dealership to work through possible wait times for the car I want. Called around this Saturday b/c I constantly scour autotrader and cars.com for new listings, and may have a real contact for the color and trans I am looking for. I will know by Monday, so I am told. I am looking well outside the Nor CA area, and am not looking for a BRZ. I didn't bother calling or really looking until I secured financing outside the dealership and didn't bother with CU financing until I researched my current credit scores, debt to income ratio, and liquidating a car from the stable. I was in the waitlist for the BRZ at capitol subaru for a couple of months. A friend of mine then told me that piercy toyota at milpitas has 2 frs in stock. A lot of people were lined up for it, but didnt really qualify coz the 2 were the five axis edition frs which cost a lot. Got the frs the day after i went, withdrew my reservation at capitol subaru and had my 500 refunded. Then a month later, my contact at capitol subaru emails me that they finally have a brz and is first come first serve. Yes, for this year the brz and frs are kinda hard to purchase, i dont know if it would still be the same next year. Hopefully they'll limit production, just like the supras.:D

Whiteout MT @ One Toyota, Oakland, MSRP

Argento manual in Yuba City at MSRP
|
Limited 6 MT DGM BRZ spotted at Diablo Mazda Subaru, must've been unloaded off the truck on Monday.
The dealership is awful and will probably sell it for a 5k markup. Be very wary. |

maybe the next time we have a meet & drive, we should have the whole group drive slowly past one of these dealerships that has a ridiculous markup. If we go at a good time on a weekend, I bet we can all pass by just as one of the sales guys tells a prospective buyer, "these are really rare cars, you won't see too many on the roads, that's why we are charging markup"...

Stop by Piercey Toyota Milpitas today and they still have the black 6-spd with the fivead kit and wheels on. - 38K
And they got another Black one with fivead kit and leather seat and trd exhaust. -35K |

No one should have to pay more than MSRP, period. If you can't find it in CA, there are plenty of FT86's at MSRP (FRS and BRZ) all over the country. |
Red FRS spotted at Santa Rosa (Freeman) or Petaluma (Hansel) Toyota/Scion. Sorry I was going down the 101 late last night and couldn't remember which town I was in.
|
Argento and White, each with manual transmission at Yuba City Toytota
|
Just got a email: Walnut creek Diablo Subaru has one WRB limited.
Price:*$31,907 plus tax, dmv, $80 doc, $8.75 CA tire. * |
There a hot lava at piercey with five ad wheels. I really didnt take a close look what options they had slapped on that hot lava.
|
Livermore Subaru just called me... they have a WRB Premium Automatic available with what sounds like the Pop1b package... chrome fender trim, rear bumper film. He said it is selling for roughly $30K not sure if there is some markup there or other accessories. I told him I was literally driving my BRZ as we spoke, but I would spread the word. Contact Sam at 510-779 - 7571 if you wanna check it out.
|
Sounds like a shipment just arrived...
|
Well, subaru is making 2000 more BRZ's to meet the demands here in the US. I do hope they dont mass produce the FR-S and BRZ.
|
Still MSRP plus $?k in CA...more cars means more chance for them to mark up! I don't think this with change in the near future.
|
CA dealers are looking at any BRZ as an opportunity to price-gouge.
Anyone who's still looking for a car should go out of state to find cars at MSRP and see PMoks thread for how it's done...or ask one of the many folks who have bought their BRZ out of state, like me :D |
I saw dark gray and WRB BRZs at Putnam Subaru on Friday and a red FR-S across the street at Putnam Scion. I imagine they gotta be marked up to just be sitting on display like that though.
|
when I was picking my SWP BRZ at Carlsen Subaru, noticed they had a blue BRZ limited manual I believe with a $3K mark-up.

The dealers say that they are "factory installed options" (direct contradiction to Scion corporate who claims that there is nothing added to the car from the factory, all options are added by dealer) and as such the dealers "hands are tied" when it comes to car configuration. If you press them they will relent that they are lying and they do determine the options but still won't give you what you want. All Scion has done is put me through to a dealer customer service rep who jumped up and down to help me until they get shot down by the sales manager who knows they can keep inflating their profits with wheel locks and "rear bumper appliques". Sorry for the rant, I've pretty much given up on buying one (I'm crotchety and picky and won't put up with liars :iono:) but my father is still fielding salesmen. Steven's Creek has an Ultramarine one, call quick before they put leather in it! |
Livermore Subaru has 2 coming in on 12/17. 1 is spoken for, the other is WRB Limited MT. 1500 markup on it b/c person who ordered it backed off. I couldn't even waive the 1500 if I had put my name on it. Total ~33K. He said to come or call between 12/15 - 12/19.
Pls don't tell them I picked up an FRS at Dublin Toyota/Scion. 3 week wait. Talk to AJ! He held my FRS for 2 days (Sat and picked up Sunday night). It was a matter of time of who was going to call me first, Dublin Toyota did - no hassle and straight forward. Talk to AJ! I visited both dealers 3 weeks prior. I'm happy and saved a few bucks :). Now my wife says it needs a spoiler, I asked her which she likes... |

I have to agree JackSmiley. They both look great.

Merced Scion may still have a M/T Argento FR-S.
They sell at MSRP, and I was waitlisted there before I got mine. Speak to Robert Riley, the Internet Customer Relations Manager. He's very professional yet he has a good sense of humor! I would've went here if they had my FR-S in stock. I promised him that I would refer him to potential buyers since I had a good experience talking to him on the phone numerous times. |

Side note: Does anyone know how accurate is the true market value prices on edmund and kbb? Both sites lists the true market value of a brz at MSRP in the bay area. I don't get how that is possible after checking out the stealerships! |
Check out PMOK 's thread re buying out of state. That's the only way to go. Trust me, I have been in your shoes before and now I am a happy owner driving the car without being raped.

Toyota/Scion of Walnut Creek took delivery of a AT FR-S in Whiteout on the morning of 12/12/12. All season tires, wheel locks, and trunk mat were the only adds so far. They told me they had one interested buyer who was supposed to take a look this evening but they never showed.
They're also slated to receive another AT in Firestorm in a week or so, dunno what that one is coming with though. Great team over there helped me get my MT Asphalt last week. Look for David. |
These dealerships! God! They think these cars are like diapers.
