I shouldn't watch stuff like that. It makes me want to do things to my cute little BRZ. :(

Thank you! Totally removing it and not putting something back up there would IMO degrade the rigidity and handling, yeah. That bar connects the 2 frame rails together forming a box. There are a few other pieces/braces helping out, but removal would essentially be removing one side of that box.

Most (all?) other aftermarket "Crash Bar" replacements are a single tube that probably flexes and twists more easily than the stock box beam. We set out to design a replacement that would allow more space/airflow than the big boxy stock beam, without losing the torsional stiffness of the stock part. This beam utilizes 2 bars on each side welded to the mounting plate, so it should be as stiff or stiffer than the OEM piece, while still giving you lots of room for better cooling. It's made of DOM steel so not terribly lightweight, but nice and strong and only weighs 5 pounds more than the stock bar. This one also gives you a lower brace for mounting up things like the oil cooler, intercooler, or you could do rally lights, etc.

Will that bar clear the intercooler pipes on top-feeding kits like the Greddy and HKS kits?

I don't see why not, it just goes in front where the stock crash bar was, but takes up less area. If nothing else it is custom bent/welded, so it could be fabbed up to clear or support whatever is needed.

A few laps from Grid Life Road Atlanta in the turbo BRZ

Telemetry is built into the camera - Garmin Virb Elite. Session was HPDE Beginner class. Corvette passed 2 cars without a point-by. ;)

Were they boosted/modified, or were they stockers that were popping?

Also, have you totally fallen for the Turbobrz? Hardly hear about your supercharged FRS, which was the way I thought I would go.

Couldn't find the crash bar on their site. Is this something they offer for sale, or was it a one-off custom bar? It looks great!

Nice! Been a fan of Chemical Brothers for many years. Hadn't associated that with ourselves before though.

They were modded/boosted. The supercharged FRS is on hiatus for a round of upgrades, but the guys at the shop have been really busy working on bigger projects with all of these 1/2 mile events and big power GTRs to build for them, so we're content playing around in the BeRZ for now. Got a couple of S2000s to fall back on as well. ;)

Thanks! It was a custom prototype, but the plan is to make/sell them on demand in the future. Let them know you're interested and you'd like to be notified when they are available to order and they will be more inclined to get on that if they see a demand for them.
