why Toyota name them Scion here in the US? such a turn off. i want originality, i want tradition, Scion brand has neither, it reeks cheap teenager first car with loud audio system to me.

Scion is toyota either way, the bond between a person and the brand they follow is like a relationship, if they dont keep changing we will get bored with them, and if our pockets go empty they will leave us ahahah

scion still has toyota's reliability thats whats important

edit: and scion is about as original as it gets

IMO, everyone who hates that the US is getting a Scion FR-S and isn't getting it because of a badge, it is great for the rest who only care that it is enjoyable to drive/own and couldn't care less what small plastic badge a car has and what other people supposedly think about it.
More for those people.

I just have to say I TOLD YOU SO... by so I mean that this car would be around 2600 lbs. hah!

Gadflyii 03-10-2012 03:37 PM

US curb weight will be 2750lbs. That is my guess and I am sticking to it :)

White baby...

Just like an M3 or a Honda Type R... white looks best when you tasteful mod the car and brings great attention to the rest of the details like wheels, tint, headlights, etc...

Hope ours comes in as ordered *fingers crossed* :coolpics:

Agreed. I had to look at all the pics again and white is one of the best colors. All Japanese cars look good in white.

too bad these only come in pearl white :|

Yesterday I was in Geneva.

I am a little disappointed because the black and the blue one aren't there anymore.

The curb weight of the orange one is 1239 kg (it's with 90% fuel and 75 kg driver).
And the car is nearly fully equipped.

Base price for Switzerland is CHF 41.600 (quite high).

serialk11r 03-15-2012 10:57 PM

Wow, 1239 with 75kg driver would be more like 1167ish with full tank of gas rather than 90% and no driver...1167kg is only 2573 pounds!!!

Jordo! 03-16-2012 12:54 AM

Huh. Lighter than originally claimed?

Good. Because then it needs less horsepower than I thought to go from slow and pretty to beastly.

Hmmm. Really want to test drive one.

serialk11r 03-16-2012 04:13 AM

I dunno, most of the numbers reported are closer to 1200 (I see 1210 and 1220 most often), which is not quite 1 whole driver heavier...so it is probably the extra safety equipment and not a measuring difference :(

Seeing a number under 2600lb though makes me really wonder what their rumored STI will look like. They said they can drop a few hundred pounds off it...which would put it into Miata territory. 2500lb on a car with 2012+ crash safety would be amazing.

So, really torn on colour here...

The blue looks gorgeous in showroom lights. Anyone seen it in person, out on the street?

Ordering mine tomorrow, so gotta decide on colour REAL soon!

Edit:
I guess this is a different blue in this gallery?

If you are ordering a Toyota, then you will be getting Galaxy Blue Silica, which is a darker blue (NOT the one in your link)

However if you get a Subaru, you can get World Rally Blue, which is lighter (the same color of the BRZs in your link)

Both look great, but I prefer WRB on the BRZ.
