Hello everyone.. I'm new to this site. but not to cars or Toyota/Scion ...

I can see why Toyota is dropping this as a Scion... It doesn't have the heart of a Toyota... it will have a Boxer engine..... Toyota has made some great 4bangers in its history. 4A-GE, 4A-GZE, 3S-GE, 3S-GTE,... and not having this, what looks to be what might be a great chaise, why would you want a Toyota emblem when it doesn't have a Toyota Motor since they are called Toyota Motor Corp.

Wow I dont think I've ever seen a thread go up to 8 pages so fast other than maybe the MkII concept pics thread, I couldnt get through a page on my phone without 1 or 2 more popping up lol... So now I'm home and have caught up, there is wayyy too much tension in here; time to simma down now, simma down...

Doesn't matter. Toyota enthusiasts wanted/want a Toyota. Simple as that. Maybe they will buy the Subaru, but it won't stop the rants in the meantime.

No offend guys, but only people agree to put the car in Scion brand drive either Civic or tC... WTF?

if i bought this i'd have to rebadge it myself. just a quick trip to the swap meet

serialk11r 04-13-2011 07:09 PM

lololol when I saw the main page I was like, oh god there is probably a riot going on...yup.

While I agree it's weird that they'd be going with a Scion badge, companies in general do weird things sometimes.
Maybe they're trying to preserve a "green" image for the Toyota brand (bit ironic because this car is so small and probably pretty good on fuel, but I suppose performance and "green" don't go together in people's minds).

No offense taken but I don't agree with what you said. There aren't people "agreeing to put the car in the Scion brand". There are just people who don't care what brand it comes in. That doesn't mean they WANT it branded as a Scion. Of course, if some of those people think they could save some money if it were badged as a Scion, they might like the idea.

I unno about anyone else, but I'm stoked that I can rest easy now knowing that its OFFICIAL that this car is making it to the U.S. market. We all kind of knew it was going to, but its nice to actually know now for sure.

As I've said before I'm greatly disappointed that this car is not being badged a Toyota in the U.S., as Toyota's sports image is basically non-existent, and it would have been nice to see the old glory of its sporting roots mark its return with the FT-86.

That being said, the overall Toyota fanboy in me isn't as disappointed as it could be. The car's heart, its soul, is being supplied by someone else's technology completely, FHI's boxer technology, so the car already isn't a "Toyota" in my mindset.

But meh...can't wait to see the show.

because the spirit of the car is just as inportant as the car itself. Like the Jag it has history years of trial and error and a racing spirit that make them decent cars. when you take that and cheapen it, you are bound to upset someone

Why do people on the internet say "no offend [sic]" only to make a statement meant to offend, lol.

+1 I want the cleaner version (MKI) to be a Toyota and Scion can have the riced out one (MKII)

oh i remember! haha. still, we'll have to see how this all unfolds. i'm in no hurry. :) i will actually be a little bit surprised if Toyota only offers it as a scion in the US.
