Haha. This thread has made me laugh so many times.

Rampage 05-30-2014 11:27 AM

I am not interested in starting an argument just making an observation. No one in the "general public" around where I live calls heavily modified cars "tricked out". That must be a regional thing.

"Riced out" or "shit boxes", yes. "Tricked out", no.

For the record; my car is very heavily modified and could be viewed by some as "riced out". Others have no clue what they are looking at and therefore cannot see the many mods. I have no problem wearing the ricer tag if that is what someone thinks of my car. After all, I did not build it for them.

Oh now that's funny. Entitled. Hahahaha. You don't even know me, BRO.

It's summer, and I'm bored in this college town. Sorry not all my posts are to your liking.

Yessir. So much rice.

Rice rice baby.

rice_classic 05-30-2014 11:16 PM

Listing your mods in your signature is rice. :bellyroll:

I HOPE these cars end up like Civics, or E30's or Miatas. Just not in the sense everyone here is talking about..

No.. I want to the twins to be like Civics how I know them.. Insanely popular, 9 generations, millions sold, massive aftermarket support, cheap to race and insure and buy second hand, insanely reliable and easy to work on...

Yeah, there's definitely worse fates for a car than "being like a Civic."

The reasons you've listed are good reasons to enjoy Civics. I'm talking about the ones that take on the poor fate of being riced by their owners.

Also, I really don't care and I know you're joking, but I list my mods like that so people can see what I have and ask me questions if they want a review. Many posters have sent me PM's stating they saw a mod in my sig and wanted to know more about it.

how come we dont have AVCS stickers or VVTL-I stickers like the civic stock? i heard it adds hp and a touch of rice, i mean spice,

It's worse, we get some stupid opposing piston swastika looking badge on the side of our FRS's oh yeah, let's not forget the interior clock from 1985.

MidnightRunner 05-31-2014 01:25 AM

I agree with the op in regards to being a bit irked seeing nice cars get shitted out. Unfortunately it is inevitable, and stupid people will do stupid things.

The kid I sold my stock 300zx to just sent me a new pic of how "hellaflushed" and "stanced" it is currently. Now while the old me would love to drive to his house and bitchslap the shit out of him, I don't let it bother me. I just smiled and shook my head.

@husker741 words of advice: Don't allow other people's stupidity to affect you. You do what you want with your car, and let them do what they want with their car.

Chefbroyardee 05-29-2015 08:06 PM

I'm pretty new to the 86 community, also the car community in general. But from what I'm understanding ( correct me if I'm wrong) but if you don't like the way a car looks then it automatically becomes a ricer?
Much like video games where if you die then you're a noon. If you win then your a hacker.

No one can win.

Packofcrows 05-29-2015 08:22 PM

...idk bud. Here where I live I see more Camaro's and Vette's.

Prob 10 Camaro's now for every 3 Vettes for every 1 twin.

5 in my town now.

insurance going up? yes. that sucks.
idiots making their cars uglier than yours? good!

think about how cheap junkyard parts are gonna be in the next 5 years! the yards are gonna be FULL of twins, just waiting to be picked.

my buddy chris put it perfectly. this is a unique car, in that it has almost no direct "rivals", but they are in no way special.

if they'd not offered an autotragic transmission, that would make the car unique. kids who are moving from their auto civic to an auto twin, deserve what's coming to them.

Probably not or the thread would be gone or locked. It should have been left in the grave though.

I own a 2010 mustang , and plan on trading in for a twin very soon, but one huge thing that I hate about my car is that (in my area of chicago) they are everywhere. Everyone and there grandma has one. I did a tally through one work day on the cars I saw all day 32 mustangs 7 twins.

Not a problem really it will just die again eventually. No real rule but do try to steer away from resurrecting something to say "me too" or reiterate something that has already been said many times. Keep in mind that if a thread has been dead for a couple of years there is probably a very good reason it has stayed that way.
There is nothing funnier than somebody that resurrects a thread to argue with or ask a question of a member that disappeared 3 or 4 years ago.

Don't worry about the anti rice crowd. Many will make jokes but don't really mean it. The ones that do mean it just ignore. Opinions will differ and the guy that hates XXXX mods is as entitled to say so as much as the guy that loves them.

I can see 10 Stangs from my front porch. As best as I can figure there are 12 twins in my whole city. ( 400k people)

I love my car and plan on getting a shelby when I'm older and have 60k but for now I can't stand seeing them. And just the looms of an frs made my heart poop it's pants. I plan on test driving one tomorrow.

Just remember these are not point and stomp cars. They will require your best driving skills but will reward you in a manner that is truly exhilarating when you get it right.

InspGadgt 05-30-2015 04:04 AM

I thought quite the opposite...Given I don't plan to rice out my car the abundance of modifications available that will rice out the car is only a good thing because that means there is a lot of aftermarket support for the car...not all of it would be ricer. So if I do decide to do some tasteful mods they will be more available than with other cars.

DohcTor 05-30-2015 06:46 AM

@Op .... No. The civic actually has a decent build quality and is paired with a well tuned engine. Also, the civic will hold its retail value far better than the twins ever could

Civics are actually the LEAST Riced cars IMO.

#1 Would have to be the Chrysler 300, followed closely by base-model Cadillacs & Camaros.

This is correct. No one will admit to it though.

themadscientist 05-30-2015 08:25 AM

OP, get over yourself, quit dictating to others what they should do with their own property and enjoy your own car, or don't; It's yours to put in a hermetically sealed display case or bolt a huge wing too; go for it! :slap:

Ha ha ha ha ha. Dude you do nothing but troll on the cars the forum is about but heaven forbid anybody say anything bad about your bloody precious Civic. You imeaditly turn into the fanboy that you love so much to call other on here. There is a reason the Civic gets held up as the most riced and to deny that is just plain foolish. Hilarious!

Teseo 05-30-2015 11:08 AM

I dont like civic because rice stigma

And to those of you who say "don't care what others say, do what you like", do you appreciate that your car's value is dwindling and your insurance is going up because people don't know how to drive these? When they first came out, the BRZ and FR-S were looked at as great looking, sweet cars by most people. They are still great to the people that appreciate what they do. It just sucks that the general public is starting to see these cars as loud, obnoxious, riced out cars.

The more I go through Facebook groups and see what people are doing to their cars, it just annoys the shit out of me. Sorry if you think I shouldn't get annoyed by it, but the more and more people do that shit, the more that these cars get lumped into the "rice" group.

/rant

I agree with what your saying and i think about the same thing in regards to these cars becoming ricers dreams. Luckily there is not many in Canada and the current owners are either keeping them stock or clean. I've only seen a few bad ones, like yesterday, one with a GT wing :bonk:

However i know many idiots will get a hold of these cars sadly...it's why I plan to keep my clean and never sell it so nobody can rice it out haha

Tcoat 05-30-2015 12:36 PM

I could care less how many get riced. In fact the more the better. Just look at how much it drives the value up on unaltered versions of the other cars that are popular ricers

Instead of being worth $500 twenty years later they're worth $1,500?

I mean, I guess a threefold increase is nothing to sneeze at...

Actually, I can't even post in here. My car is considered "rice" according to some of you guys' opinions. Oh well. :bellyroll:

Mr.Impreza 05-30-2015 01:15 PM

These cars are already going up in value...

$40,000 for a brz azora with 17,000km.....>__<

I'll probably put mine up for $45,000 cause it has a trd spoiler and toyota badges and only 10,000km!
