The picture is from Instagram.

Was the news exciting enough for me to log back in and comment? Yes
sadly though if it is the long rumored "fast" edition of the twins, it's pricing is going to probably make it sit on lots. I know it's just speculation but I'm gonna guess it'll have 250-270 hp max. The focus rs and golf r, even the focus st will be marketed better price/performance

Facts to support close to production:

-Uses a different shape headlight, while the past sti concept used the stock lights.
-Has side reflectors on the bumper, while the past sti concept didn't
-Has different shape working mirrors, while the past sti concept didn't have working mirrors at all.
-Has stock roof, while the past sti concept had a custom smoothed roof
-Has door handles, while the past sti concept didn't at all.
-Different rear quarter panels from either stock and past sti concept

Not really digging it. Looks a tad overwrought, unless there is power there to justify hood buldge, vented fenders and swollen rear fenders.

I don't know much how Auto Show cars go in terms of finished product, but I will say that the brakes don't appear any larger, from what little I can tell. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'm a naysayer.
If it was actually new or something special, It would be under wraps or under a cover. Subaru isn't going to let a new model or new concept be spied that easily. But hey, I can be wrong. Get those pink slips ready.

No hood scoop? No turbo.

This link can almost confirm that the picture is not fake or photoshopped as the second car in the Instagram picture is featured in this article.

2L.......... is rallycross restricted to 2L? If not, looks like the FA20 is paving its way to the future....

580 hp out of a 2.0, 6-speed sequential, and 0-60 in two seconds. Sigh. Dammit Subaru, we know you know how to build these things, why not build one for us?

The 2015 Forester XT no longer has a scoop (FMIC now).

Maybe NA 2.5L FA25? We all know the WRX STi isn't going to be saddled with the old EJ forever. BRZ STi gets the FA25 then at Tokyo the WRX STi gets the FA25DIT?

Or it could just be a styling cue and mean absolutely nothing.

Being a Cubs fan has trained me to have patience and it looks like it might payoff!
