I'm pretty sure I've experienced this in my car, but from the driver's side. It kind of reminded me of the sound of water bottle popping/expanding when left out in the sun.
|
I've heard some pops, nothing too loud that can surprise me but more of a subtle pop, usually a little before I start moving. Still in my break in period so I'm not too worried about it.

Sometimes something I've put in the car will make a noise, and I'll think it was the car that did it. Like I'll have a bottled water deflate and makes a loud popping or snapping noise in the car such that it'll cause me to jump and look to see if a rock hit the windshield. Road conditions and small noises under the car are very noticeable.

I've had this happen about 3 times now (car only has 2600 miles). It sounds like someone threw a rock at you. It always comes from the right rear quarter of the car. Haven't been able to find anything wrong, but glad to learn it's not just me.

FIXED!!!
A stripped, broken nut on the bolt that holds the sway bar end link - drivers side rear. So one side was secured and the other side was loose, and when weight was transferred it "popped". It was discovered by Adam at LIC Motorsports. Car was put up on the lift, visually inspected but problem not discovered until all bolts were check tightened. |
Interesting,... I'll have to check my sway bar. I also occasionally hear the pop from the passenger rear - sounds like either a piece of gravel releasing from the tire into the wheel well or someone hit the side of the car with a rock / bb gun.
