There is no magic suspension geometry change. Contrary to belief, the suspension setup is fairly simple. It's balanced for the specific aero and tire setup for the car. Even more simple than most time attack cars these days with minimal gutting. With street tires and full interior, it's going to take hell of a lot of effort to get to 1:57. We can build you a 59 car with minimal mods, but you better find a way to drive better than Rob or Mike. :) |
Why the preference toward the S2k over a Lotus Elis, I mean if you are serious about track worthiness I can't imagine the S2k or Cayman could hold a candle? Just curious.

Is the 2zz worse than the fa20? |
To take my S2000 to the track I would change the oil, flush the brake fluid, and swap brake pads. My rolling stock was Dunlop Star Spec Z1s. I never had issues of any kind.
I could be wrong but I think the cracking rotor issue is only with people running slicks and/or considerably more power, under very hot conditions. Mid 80s ambient temp and braking from 125 to 50 lap after lap at CMS got my brakes really hot and my rotors turned bluish, but no cracking. |

Well if you're going to do that aren't you going to spend a few hundred bucks on a baffled sump/pickup tube or is it more complicated than that? Just so folks know we are on topic the Elise is more Toyota than the GT-86. |

is there any particular engine that you can swap it for? |
As I said, a few people have done the 3.8L swap (from a 911). It's a fantastic motor in a Cayman, but it's kind of expensive. Aside from that, there are probably a few other assorted swaps, but nothing really common.
