I drove both the turbo and non-turbo version and the Veloster is really not a drivers car at all. It is geared toward being a different looking car that has lots of tech features and gets good gas mileage for a good price.

It is not even close to being a drivers car. The electric power steering in the car is very poor IMHO, and this is a problem across all Hyundai cars that I have driven that use electric steering (the Gencoupe still uses hydraulic). The manual transmission is just okay. The driving dynamics are just not there compared to the FR-S/BRZ and it is not even close.

It is a good car for a hipster who cares more about tech features and MPG, and a different design than a driving enthusiast.

I'd love to have the Veloster's trick 3rd door on my BRZ.

The weighted hydraulic steering of my old gen coupe is one of the only things I miss about the car.

I test drove both Veloster and Veloster Turbo before purchasing the BRZ.

Since the V and VT both share the same chassis and suspension, they both rode the same/had the same handling characteristics. There was a really unsettling wiggling in the rear of the cars (a product of the "V beam" rear axle design, probably) that swayed me away from buying it solely because it felt unsafe at anything >35 mph. Then there was the issue of MPG claim (40) vs real MPG (~33). Why have a car that felt unsafe at highway speeds and gets the same MPG as the BRZ?

My friends told me the turbo one drives like shit. If you are comparing our car to shit then you better go take a cold shower. The veloster did come out around the same time but its fwd, slow, its a hatch, not really nimble, and ugly looking.

Yes, the VT desperately screams for an LSD. And yes, Hyundai drastically overestimate's their MPG... They finally got caught...

I should also note that the Hyundai dealership was going to give me over KBB on trade-in for my 08 STI plus they lowered the price of a Veloster Turbo Ultimate with the auto transmission to $25,xxx before TTL, so I would have made out crazy good on that deal.

But then I found a private buyer for my STI.

We test drove a Veloster Turbo. It's a car that looks amazing on paper, and even pretty snazzy on the outside. Opinions will vary on that last part, but what they won't vary on is that once you get inside the car, it doesn't remotely live up to its promises. People have already listed its flaws, so I don't need to repeat them.

Hyundai is getting there. They've figured out the math, but they're a ways off from figuring out the X factor.

They are very different cars IMO. I'm on forums for both, and they are too different to be compared

For the price point, there are better options. Like every car there is a market for it, someone will buy it no matter what. I thought it was pretty cool when it first came out but then I realized 3 doors is a stupid idea, and it doesn't drive good at all.

I bought a fully loaded veloster ... Had it for about 3 months ... until I hit a bump and my glass roof shattered.

That combined with the impossible "fishtank" rear visibility made my dump it asap
