K, I'll give you one example. My friend who use to own 350z, bought that car brand new (cuz he liked the new hood design than older model). Next week went to tuning shop and got it twin turbos and other mods on that Z (cuz he lost against stage 2 STI few days ago). He knew it'll void the warranty, but he didn't care. Why? Cuz he's damn rich enough to do it... so don't expect your opinion is same as others. People has different reasons for void the warranty of their car. oh on the title part, you took the words right out of my mouth. "You're comparing two different generations". Also comparing Nismo 370z vs Toyota Supra is just pure laughter... be glad Toyota never sold TRD Supra at the dealers. |

Need I say again that the Supra will be 17 years old this year, and It did all that it did on 17" wheels shod with 17 year old tyre technology. Comparing the scope of things, and the cars of the time, the Supra was the GT-R of it's day. |

MOST people (even enthusiasts) care about msrp and how much money they spend on their new car purchases. Also, enthusiasts don't spend more than 1% (if any) of their driving time in spec series races. So why are you talking about spec tires? How much of your driving is actually done in a spec seiries race? P.S. You are doing just as much comparing between the two cars as I am. BTW, In my first post I was simply trying to state that a stock nismo 370Z would put down equal or better performance #'s(ie 0-60, 1/4 mile, skid pad, lap time), as a stock mkiv did 15 years ago. I'm talking about stock #'s because most people will not want to void their warranty (this message board is, "How much would a new Supra cost?"). P.S. If you like Supras, and you like to modify cars, then you should buy an mkiv and make it better than a mkv Supra. It wouldn't cost as much as an mkv Supra would cost brand new if Toyota did make one (my guess is at least $65K to compete with the Skyline R35GT-R performance). My two cents. |

If you wanna know, if I ever been on spec series races then yes, I have. I have done time attack, SM2 class, & few local shop sponsor time attack events. Sad to say, never won any series or races, closest I got was got 11th place on local shop sponsor time attack (FF street class with ek). I can say, I have spent a lot of time on the track (both spec races & open track day). Only one that I've never done is Auto-X. Quote:
Toyota Supra's specs (from Wiki) 0~60 - 4.6 sec 1/4 - 13.1 @109 .98 - lateral g's 70-0 - 149ft (only one beat that was Carrera GT by 3ft in 2004) Nissan 370z spec (got the spec from Motor Trend First Test Numbers for the new 2009 370z & 2010 Ford Mustang vs 2009 Nissan 370z & PDF Nissan 370z Spec) 0~60 - 4.7 to 5.2 1/4 - 13.3~13.5 @ 106~103.7 .97~.94- lateral g's 70-0 - 159ft Sadly, I don't have the spec of TRD 3000GT, so can't compare with Nismo 370z. |

:iono: I wasn't saying that was my view on it. |

The title of this thread was "How much would a new Supra cost?" NOT "How much would a new TRD 3000GT Supra cost?". If the title was the later, then i would NOT have mentioned the Nismo 370Z; because I know that a stock Nismo 370Z wouldn't put down the same #'s as a stock TRD 3000GT MKIV. I am aware that the MKIV was originally designed to be competetive with or better than GT-Rs not Z's. I am also aware that the MKIV has better tuning potential than the Nismo 370Z. |

Again, I'm talking about most people on this message board and not people who race spec series regularly. |

If you wanna talk bout Nismo 370z, do it off-topic thread. I'll be gladly praise how Nismo 370z perform. I know they're awesome cars, I have driven them in and out of track before. They sure make my car feels like POS after coming back from the track. Quote:
