Just got an email from scion telling me that I'm on the wait list, but not yet one of the first 86. Says they've yet to pick them.
Well at least I'm on the wait list. |

Lame...
I guess that just gives me more time to save. |
First 86
I can tell everyone here that, YES, they have selected the First 86. I know, because I'm one of the lucky one's!!! I've already been to the dealership and gave them my deposit. I chose Asphalt with the manual transmission (see below). I can't wait to get it. Surprisingly, even the dealership doesn't have any information on the delivery date or cost though. Hell, they barely even knew anything about the whole promotion!!!
I've read about the car for almost a year but just luckily ran across the promotion the day that it took place. I was on a Tundra forum and saw a banner on that site. SO, I obviously entered and got selected! http://image96.webshots.com/96/3/89/...2yeQoIz_ph.jpg |
Thanks to all who signed up for helping jack up the price of the car...

How do you know that Toyota/Scion will now jack the price up? Perhaps now that they know there is a high demand, they can cut cost since volume sales will be high. Toyota knows that if they price the car too high they will lose customers to their competitors (Honda, Nissan, Mazda). People who think this will affect pricing are ignorant. |

Scion is obviously testing the water to see how much money they can squeeze out of the potential buyers for this car. It was SUPPOSED to be an affordable entry level sports car. If this was not their motivation for this exercise, they would already have a price set. Everyone thinks they're "winning an opportunity to buy the car" when in actuality, Scion is dangling this carrot in front of the buying public too see how many hoops we'll all jump through to buy it, then adjust the price accordingly...I wouldn't be surprised to see this car approach $26-27k when all is said and done...why would anyone want to "win a chance to buy a car"??? What a stupid idea unless you're buying a limited produced supercar like the GTR or LFA. but a Scion?? I know it's a rebadged Toyota but come on...this is ridiculous....I'll just wait a couple of years until all this bullshit is done and over with....then you'll be able to get a lease return or used one for less than $20k |

ok so Toyota can build enough? what's your point??

It was stated before but scion pure pricing? hasnt changed in years why would it now. They will set a price according to market research if they are smart and just go from there.

Honestly, most Toyota dealers are not 100% Scion compliant. Most just don't do enough volume in scion sales to justify jumping through all those hoops. They can loose their Scion distribution/franchise if caught, but in 2 years at a Toyota dealer I've never once seen our store audited. Additionally at least 2 other stores in my area are not 100% compliant and, so far as I can tell, have never been spoken to about it. |
