Because this is a TOYOTA sports car. Gee, how do you think it would've gone if GM had revived the Camaro and given it to Saturn? Do you think they would be OK with that? Because they sure as fuck wouldn't.

How come Government Motors can bring back the Camaro, yet us Toyota enthusiasts can't have the Celica, MR2, or Supra back? How come this car, which is basically a Celica, can't be called Celica? How come Toyota's heritage is being thrown away for some shitty (yes SHITTY) upstart brand that isn't even available in all markets? How come Toyota can't throw us long time fans a bone and revive something that us old timers will like and new enthuisasts will, too? How come we have to be stuck with some lame-ass alpha-numerically named bullshit car sold under a brand that is known for selling boxes to old people and idiot ricers who think their shit don't stink? true but the demo for scion has higher insurance prices, the two companies maybe the same have different images in the eyes of the people and insurance companies

Most members here waited for this car to be a Toyota, and of course with all of the anticipation and teaser pictures of this car being a Toyota--the ft-86 is now marked as a scion at the NY Autoshow.

Of course thats going to get a lot of people riled up.

I dunno why ppl are so aghast, it'd be more surprising if it wasn't a Scion. The brand wasn't going away, and the car fits the demographic, hate it as you may.

Premium prices are based on the individual models, not necessarily the overall brand. Insurance don't charge based on "image," they do it based on previous history of accidents with a given nameplate (or close equivalent), its demographic distribution, number of claims and amount per policy, repair costs, etc. They don't go "hmm Scion sounds like a young brand" and arbitrarily slap a high premium on it.

A majority is based on on driver but brand and model does factor just the deference between luxury sport and sport luxury.

Is it even confirmed as a FT86 Variant? some part of me is still making the argument that this is a sub FT. Sure they share looks n stuff. anyways lets speculate some price point? how much more will this sit above the TC?

Also I don't seem to have a problem with it. honestly it's expected this maybe Scion's only saving grace. Btw there's a Subaru version go get that one instead.
