Man, I've spent about the blue book value of one of my trucks on repairs for it in the last couple weeks. Water pump, thermostat, steering rack, brakes, and every joint, bushing, and every other part of the front suspension. Almost $7k total.
Oh well, I want it to last me 5 more years, and in the last 19 the only things I've done with the suspension is new shocks about 10 years ago. No more clunking when I hit a pothole!

I'm kinda doing the same thing with my son's 05 LL Bean Forester. I just put all new brakes and a new Walker Cat on it. The cheap Ebay cat kept throwing P0420. One of those sensor extensions didn't help. A few months ago, new front axles and then figured out that the creaking sound was a universal joint on the rear driveshaft. 2 years ago, we pulled the engine for head gaskets to fix oil and coolant leaks. Put in a timing belt kit and new spark plugs while the engine was out. Last week, The tensioner on the AC broke when I was fixing the squeaky belt. Fortunately I had one under the work bench that had just been sittin there for about 5 years.
Stiil much cheaper than car payments.
