In the picture with the rear triangle light on it totally looks like Edgar Allen Poe's face.

^ agreed! I've started to like asphalt more on cloudy days and in the rain. On cloudy days the flake obviously dont jump out at you and it blends nicer with my CF and black headlights and in the rain the glass is that green color i love!

anyway, here is one from last night. I just got my strobes and I was testing them out.

Fancy can you send me a picture of your headlights? I want to do them black did you do them yourself?

Kuzuri 04-08-2013 03:02 PM

Yes I did them myself. I wanted to do it with my tC when I had it as well, but I was so nervous about doing it that I chickened out. Well I decided to just go for it this time and it was so simple. If youre thinking about doing it, just do it. you wont regret it.

Just ran outside and took this for ya :)

Came and found what I was looking for, thanks! That definitely looks good, been contemplating whether or not to do this for my asphalt, looks like you confirmed my decision  Now, to summon the courage and time haha

What kind of paint did you use?

Yeah it definitely makes the car look darker and more mean. I used krylon dual paint & primer in satin black and krylon satin clear

Yeah it definitely does make it look aggressive, how come you added the satin clear? Is it for gloss?

I just wanted to use clear coat on them to make sure the finish was durable. and I used satin black paint, so thats why i used satin clear. I didnt want full on matte black on my headlights because ive seen some cars with that and it looked cheap... it could have just been the persons fault... but i like the look i achieved with a satin finish. looks oem.

I looked through this thread and searched. "Asphalt with bronze wheels" Those search words aren't good enough I guess :iono:

I'm in a toss up between this and white. I have gold wheels but I don't like how gold looks on this color so I would probably go with bronze.

What wheels, size, and what is the gold finish like? Pics?

Granted these aren't ON the car, but it gives you a pretty good idea of what gold is gonna look like on my asphalt..

I went and threw on the wheels this morning

They're 18x8.5 Rota DPT gold. They look to be lighter than the set you have on your car. Yours look more like a burnt gold, not that it doesn't look good, I just don't like it. I guess I'll be getting white. :thanks:

what do you guys think about asphalt with red painted calipers?

In my very honest opinion, the stock cast brakes shouldnt be painted. Theyre ugly, and painting them a bright color will only draw your eye to their ugliness quicker.

Now, a set of Alcons/Brembos/AP/etc are a different story.

ok, so ill look into getting those rather than painting. thanks for the advice. i dont plan on doing more than a cpl mods/addons bc i really like the stock look, and im totally a novice. and i dont know what "set of Alcons/Brembos/AP/etc " means but ill google them.

Alcon/Brembo/AP are brands of big brake kits. They're expensive though (like $2k per axle).

Don't take my word as gospel though. If you want to paint your calipers, have at it. Just make sure you tape off the pads (preferably remove them entirely) so there isnt any nasty over spray.

Do you guys see every surface scartch, every waterspot, everyspec of dirt that comes into your car?

Water spots, yes. Surface scratch, from certain angles if I'm looking hard enough. I've got one on the rear bumper that will polish out. I'm still pissed its even there though.

As far as dirt goes, the car could be a little dusty and still look good. But there is a tipping point (usually driving around after a heavy downpour or two weeks worth of driving in spring) where the paint starts to look shallow (nonmetallic-y). But once you wash it up, this color comes alive again.
