Can I ask why such a low rpm starting point? Any logging I've ever done was generally a 3000rpm 3rd gear pull. 1500 isn't really a real world situation. Why lug the motor? Who goes WOT at 1500rpm?

Mostly to get the widest possible rpm and data in the log I suppose. Most logs I've done for tuners they usually ask for 1500-2000 starting.

I'd never start below 2.5/3k in 3rd for WOT pulls. There's no need as you'd never do it, you'd be in a better gear if you were caning it plus the low end is prone to showing knock corrections when knock may not even be present. Also, I'd argue that doing that doesn't allow logging of real life OL/CL transients that are important in the tuning.

Obviously listen to your tuner and what they want, but starting WOT at too low in too much of a high gear isn't going to be beneficial. Try and simulate situations that you'd actually do in normal driving.

I just do as my tuner asks. They usually have better experience on what they want to see than me.

Yep I agree, I don't want to start a you should do this or that. Just wondered. All the tuning I've done was always on boosted applications so low rpm was not useful as there is no boost, hence the 3k rpm start point.

Hi all,

just had my first attempt at data logging and I uploaded the file here

http://www.datazap.me/u/boofneenee/b...l-1?1-7-8-9-11

I believe you should be able to copy paste link into browser and view yourself. Actually, thats sort of what I was hoping you would do! I dont really know how to interpret these figures and I would appreciate it if someone with knowledge in the area can have a look. I did not have the opportunity to get the rpm's past 6800 as cars on the highway prohibited me! I had two decent pulls in 3rd gear as you can see from engine speed tab.

In any event, I have a K&N filter, nameless 2.5 inch OP/downpipe 1 piece combo with 5" mufflers.

I will be running another log later today and pulling to redline.

thanks!

kk, went out for another run today and pulled to redline..

please have a look!

thanks

I don't see you going full throttle for any of the single gear pulls.:iono:

Just wondering what are the biggest power gains I can get from the open flash system?

the power gains for tuning your car are easily the biggest gains you could expect for short money. Combine a tune with other mods and you can create a fun machine. The OFT is one of the least expensive and versatile tunes out there for this car. It has other dandy features like data logging for the win. If you want to squeeze the most out of your tune then opt for custom tuning. OFT and other's have remote tuning available.

check out their website for claims on hp & tq gains

http://www.datazap.me/u/haririmm/155...data=1-2-3-8-9

How it look? experts are invited

I noticed that VVT intake start dropping after 6000 rpm. Is that normal.

Yes, you want less valve overlap at higher RPM and the intake valve to open later. Look in my AVCS thread for more info.
