@ATL BRZ Nice pictures and love what you've done with your car. Always been curious though, how's your front end holding up? If I recall, you didn't have a clear bra installed, right? Do you have chips or scratches from tracking your car with no protection?

No clear bra

Some little dings, but I just use touch up paint and keep it clean with Mothers racing rubber remover.

Since I just got a new 'camera' (phone), I figure I have no more excuses not to be posting pictures!

Here's mine after about 4 months of ownership... got the mudflaps mostly to protect against the harsh canadian winters but I love the way they look.

New 35mm lens. Still learning, so these shots aren't so great. During my lunch break.

Oh! Good idea! I hadn't even thought of that. I've just been frustrated trying to learn my Nikon and this new lens each day. I learn quickly, but it's just time-consuming. I plan on taking some shots this weekend with a very skilled buddy, plus I'm hoping to borrow my friend's Canon 50D. I should have some actual good shots to you guys next week. Alaska has been very dry, icy and beautiful these past few weeks. Finally got a little snow yesterday evening.

Sorry for anyone in the Lower 48 affected by all the unexpected ice and snow. I think I'd rather live here where we expect harsh weather. I had a friend in northern Texas request tips for driving on the ice last week. "You're the only person in my contact list that knows about this stuff!" hahaha

Nice, I know what you mean about learning photography... Im no expert myself but I took a photo class and learned some great tips. Use Manual as much as you can, experiment heavily with shutter speed, aperture, ISO and the manual focus. Also there is the "golden hour," or ideal times to take photos outside such as the first hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset. I bought this book but I found it on PDF form...

http://worldtracker.org/media/librar...n.Oct.2007.pdf

Looking forward to seeing them.

Sweet! Thanks for the link. I got a really nice book for my Nikon. The guy is renowned and it's setup to help you take the best pics. He doesn't rehash what you can find in the user's manual, which is nice. Each picture presented shows what settings were used, so it's a good reference.

In Alaska it's pretty much "high noon or nuthin'!" during the winter. haha Otherwise you better get into night photography or wait until summer when the sun doesn't set, then take pictures all day AND all night! hahaha

M-17 02-07-2014 01:14 PM

@chanomatik, not bad, just need to work on focus and loosen up on the f-stop, imo.
You have Alaska at your will to take great shots so most of your pics should do just fine with scenery. And nice BRZ too.

Thanks! Yeah, I finally started utilizing "+/-" f-stop button yesterday... I've had the camera since May of last year and never messed with f-stop. :bonk: The focus is a hard one for me since I think it looks okay initially, but I wear glasses and I haven't updated my prescription in about 5 or 6 years, so I'm not sure if that plays into what I think is in focus or not? I'm looking at getting some LASIK eye surgery done eventually, hopefully sooner than later, since I don't want to deal with contact lenses.

I noticed some were off focused, but its not horrible. Check the view finder and make sure its tuned to your eye sight.
And just remember, someone once told me, the first million photographs you take will be shit, after that everything will become decent. So just keep practicing and all will fall into place later on.

Will do and thanks! I always appreciate input, no matter how "harsh" someone may say it, since I always try to read the intentions. Pretty much just noted that for anyone else reading this that wants to provide input.

Anyway, I want to see more CRYSTAL BLACK BRZ's!!!

I'm debating between that and DGM, so keep posting these black beauties.

DGM is a decent compromise for CBS. I had it on my 2008 Forester XT Sports and my 2011 WRX Limited sedan. Black is more rewarding to clean and sexy as hell, but... I know I just live in the wrong state for the color. DGM didn't show everything quite so much.

One reason to have Crystal Black Silica is because the paint code is "D4S"! haha
