Steering wheel is in the correct position. That's refreshing.

I suppose it won't matter much due to its dinky size.

Not Sunday, but I did see a Lucid Air this week. Took me a few seconds to figure out what it was. I was driving so I didn't get a picture, but it was this in brown.

I saw my first one a few weeks ago. IMO it's one of those rare cars that photographs better than it looks in the real world.

Not seen one yet.. However, the Audi RS e-tron looks great, broody and menacing.. Porsche Taycan less so.. I will get some shots as there are a few about my neighbourhood.

Two new kids on the block. The Porsche GT3 looks nice but the Lambo.... WTF is going on with the colour scheme? Inside it was black and red!!! Also parked locally but I didn't get a chance to get a snap, a Pogoda SL and a RR Wraith..

Driving a supercar in a large city just seems miserable to me. Maybe London is different, but I would never want to drive a Ferrari in NYC, Boston, Baltimore, DC, Philly, etc. It's like you have to be really committed to enduring the worst possible driving experience so that you can look like a real d-bag when you finally get there. And it's not like you can't afford another car.

A lot of the supercars in the centre of town actually live in town. Generally used for posing and annoying the locals... I've seen lots with middle eastern licence plates during the summer, rich young things escaping the extreme heat of the deserts, bring their toys with them.. They just drive round the local hot spots... Saw my first Roma the other evening, just too slow with the phone to snap it...

Qatari royal family cars easy to spot as they are painted blue.. Parked outside their shop
..

Someone local to me has a 296GTB. Some initial thoughts: Matt red doesn't work, makes the the car look cheap.. and the electric motor sounds awful.. Again sounding rather cheap. I will try and get a photo if I see it on its lonesome.

Its hard to fathom that thing costs like 200k.
It doesnt even look like a 200k car....
It has the same effect that Mercedes EQ series of EV's has...they cost 6 figures but look like they should be half that price.

I agree. I've seen one in the wild. It definitely photographs better than it looks in person. In person, it looks like a generic sedan.

Maybe you weren't feeling sufficiently Lucid when you encountered the vehicle.
The son of the owner of the company I worked for a long time for now has one of those in his 1 1/2 wide reserved parking space. Usually it's a Ferrari, one of two or one of two Bentleys between his father and himself. I wish Lucid success in the electrified luxury market despite my ill will toward the aforementioned individual. If I named off the cars this guy had when I worked for him Porsche 911 Turbo S, Audi S7, cars that do 3s 0-60 times, maybe even boredom sets in and hence the choice. Apparently Lucid's strongest suit is their packaging, fully functional frunk and all. Something for a bored 40 something thats had every fast expensive car and needs to show something expensive in that spot as his car is pretty much his entire persona, after almost 20 years working with him. Some people need to have that car with that price tag. Apparently not Warren Buffett though. Who am I kidding, my first name is also Warren, but more like buffet. :eyebulge:

I will never regret not owning 3s 0-60 cars. What's the f'n point? Marketing for brands.

Just had to snap the Mini again.. This time, you see a small car from 1965, a very early Ford Focus and so called small cars from the current era..

tiger1964 07-04-2023 09:32 AM

Sorry, no picture (I was cycling and trying to keep up with the pace line); first time I've seen a Honda Beat in the wild. Lime green. Our Boxster or our S2000 would dwarf it.

You want to compare sizes?
Check out a Caterham Super Seven with the standard vehicles on todays roads, a fourdoor pick-up and an SUV.

Or, a Lotus Europa and a Subaru Impreza WRX.

I used to own a Caterham, it was amusing and a bit scary on the major trunk roads with trucks on either side... but overtaking wasn't never a problem....

bcj 07-05-2023 12:25 PM

I'd reconsider parking so deep into the space.
Next RAM that comes along and it's SMIDSY.

Yep! I've driven a number of sevens both Lotus and Caterham. I owned a twin cam Lotus Europa for years. Meaning; I too know the feeling of looking up out the side widow and seeing a truck, trailer or bus axle above my point of view. :confused0068:

Here’s one for all the British car enthusiasts. I was watching a recent episode of the British TV show Escape to the Country. I think this episode was first released in 2021. When I saw this car I had to pause the TV to snap this shot with my phone. That’s a pristine nearly 60 year old Ford Consul Corsair. I had a red Dinky Toy one with jeweled headlights, opening bonnet and turning front wheels back around 1964.

'Escape to the country '... You're not thinking of moving to the UK?? Not seen any 60s Ford's lately.. There was a time when mk1 Escorts and Cortinas were every boy racers dream ride.. My in-laws next door neighbour has a prototype Ford Escort Cosworth.. and a V12 E type.. will try to get some snaps next time I see him..

No not moving Over 'Ome. My grandparents were from the Manchester area. I like the show because of the houses and the interesting histories they showcase for the different counties. Just watched an episode where they showcased Lotus in Hethel, Norwich. It's like a mini travelog with houses for sale. :)
One of my best friends and fellow racer runs a Jag parts and restoration business now.(Blatant plug http://brownslane.com/)

The use of Browns Lane, very interesting.. I have some connections to Browns Lane, knew a few folk who worked there and at Jaguar's engine plant in Radford, Coventry.

A Mark II, Ya, close enough. I think they stopped production in 68. However, Wikipedia lists the "S" type to 1969. I can't tell which it is from the side. A Jaguar expert probably would.

As I've mentioned my good friend Tom runs a Jaguar parts and restoration business. Many moons ago he bought an "S" type sedan to restore but it literally broke in the middle when he tried to drag it out of it's shed. So he rebuilt the drive train and stuffed it into a "D" type replica. He's had this thing doing an indicated 160 MPH! Not bad for 60 year old parts in a 30 year old kit car. :confused0068:
