AARP began looking for me at around age 50....Lightyears ago.

I turned 69 about 10 days ago.

My 2015 FRS, now 13 months old, has 23,000. miles on it already...and I don't work (don't drive to work).

Yes, some of us old codgers can still enjoy driving, whether we NEED to go places or not.

Driving is fun, and addicting in the right car.

You are being crazy for sure. Oh, how I miss many of the cars I've owned in the past. Trading too often does not allow one to really fall in love with a car. And gotta admit, the used cars I've owned, way more enjoyment than the few new ones. Well, let's make an exception for this FRS.

What floats your boat
 

I'm 58 and have driven many. The 2 most exciting cars I think you get a rush from and a good bang for the buck is the Twins and Mustang GT. If you have a Twin, then you have one end of the ultimate sports car. If you drive a Mustang GT Premium with 3.73 gears, you will have the other car which is like a limo compared to the Twins. Put a Roush exhaust on the Mustang and you have a good time annoying others with that awesome high rpm sound the coyote engine makes.

I have a red FRS and a stage 3 Roush. They are 2 different worlds and both should be experienced in your lifetime. A Mustang V8 blows away any BMW engine for thrills when it has a nice super loud exhaust. I drive the FRS much more, but I tell you, the Mustang just brings you to a different place and it is so comfortable. Maybe it's my Roush supercharger talking.... but every time I come back from a joy ride... I feel freaking great. Just a thought. Drive one. Screw BMW with their used cars. Too expensive.

Ford is really knocking it out of the park with their performance cars. Fiesta St, focus St, focus rs, coyote stangs, the new gt and the raptors: damn! Only thing they don't have is a direct competitor to the twins or the miata.

I owned a 2011 gt and it was a fun car, and you are right it is definitely something every twin owner should drive.

Once you start to rationalize sports-car ownership, its time to get rid of sports-car; its not a battle that can be won.

I'd keep the FRS with warranty as it is a cheap commuter car.


I have a friend with an e46 who just put $3k into normal repairs..... that's what you do with older cars when maintenance intervals come up. He also has some other repairs to take care of which he was quoted another $1200 for.... this is all in parts only not labour
