You could technically run a ~15 PSI pulley on the Vortech kit and then plumb a wastegate on the inlet side set to 10 PSI. It'll ramp up your power delivery faster allowing you to hit peak at say 4500RPM instead of redline venting off the excess pressure. Either recirculate it or vent to atmosphere. The power curve will look more turbo like but with the instant throttle response of a blower.

Im sure one of these shops/vendors on here could make it work for you. Added expense shouldnt be too great.

You are right that is possible to do. My question is why doesn't Vortech do this then? If it is possible to put pulleys on to make more boost sooner, are there downsides other than having to vent that boost in the upper RPM range? So now you have matched one of the pluses of a turbo, but you still have a belt and the parasitic loss of a supercharger.

My guess is added expense and one more part they'd have to manufacture and warranty. Who knows their reasoning.

I still say for 2.0L displacement, turbo is the best way to go.

And at 15 psi you are spinning the blower past its designed RPM range and will kill it sooner rather than later. (Anyone feel free to correct me, this is what I have gathered from Vortech threads).

I did misunderstood, but venting the added PSI to WG will not make the Compressor to spin any slower, it will spin towards 15 psi, you are just venting the extra air out. (I believe :D)

If I were hell-bent on having fun and didn't care about mileage I'd likely do headers / exhaust, tune, light flywheel and different rear end gearing. You'll be having fun in no time :D

most importantly, keep stock tires, or at least wheels. People put 17x9s on it and complain it won't scoot around.

i dont think you understand how superchargers work. superchargers don't use wastegates because they have no exhaust pressure to relieve, and doing so would have no influence on boost pressure. they are mechanically driven off of the crank pulley. the rpm that they spin at is dependent on engine rpm, and compressor rpm rises and falls with it. if the supercharger has a smaller pulley, it's going to be spinning faster, no matter what. venting some of the boost to atmosphere is just stupid, you're just wasting a bunch of work compressing all that air. if you want more boost at low rpm, buy a turbo or pd supercharger.

Wait thats misinformation. You're right. The blower is still spinning at the higher rate. Your just not seeing the added PSi in the motor. If the bearings arent reated to spin at the rate, then you' dhave to upgrade them or risk premature failure.

No I understand. I'm not trying to start a debate or anything. You can repurpose a wastegate to do exactly this and it has been done before. Sportsguy83 was right about the SC spinning faster than w/e it's rated for and I corrected myself. Thought about it as soon as I hit post and realized i was incorrect there. No worries.

Why are the vortech guys so defensive and crap on others going with PD or Turbo?

So what if you don't have as much power as the PD under 5500rpm, just be happy with what you have after 6500rpm even if the right sized turbo has more power from 2300 to red line.

try to drive or at the least ride with people who have kits that you are interested in before you pull the trigger.

I still haven't gotten to ride in a supercharged twin. :( @charged86 never offered.

I will have videos and interviews from a dyno day with Vortech Innovate and NA guys coming up the next week hope to show the good, bad, extreme of all these setups and what is involved.

The interesting part of these kits it most of it comes down to who is tuning for it.
If someone drove my car and then Charged86 Vortech I can bet 99% of people would not think it was the same kit.
