Interdasting.... good to know! Thanks:thumbsup:

I guess the one way I'm looking at this is that I'll put up with the squeak as we probably won't have to deal with buildup on the intake valves like most of Audi's FSI engines. They don't have port injection thus the backside of the intake valves never gets cleaned and crap builds up on in over time robbing engine power, hard cold-starts, misfires, etc.

Just read this...

Looks like there's a revised part # from Subaru, 16625JB010. The TSB from 5/2013 referred to 16625JB000. Will have to keep an eye on that thread to see if the chirping is resolved completely or not.

8,500km now and still no chirp after the fix!
(using whatever gas station is closest...91 or 94 if available)

Read my other posts, I am using shell. Unless that one station is selling something other than 91 for 91. We'll see if the chirping goes away as I'm back to my original shell station.

I dont think all shell stations have ethanol free 91 oct. I noticed that some shell stations dont have the sticker that indicates percent of ethanol.

Good idea.
You wanna initiate?

What may help is to get people to sign off on some letter or something and send it to Subaru Canada demanding that Subaru address this issue with the chirping. Numbers speaks.

That is true not ALL Shell fuel stations have Ethanol Free 91, only the ones marked with stickers.

Six weeks and counting waiting for the part to arrive.

I filled up for the third time with Esso 91 last night. Today I noticed the crickets...and not minor, but quite loud listening from inside the cabin.

I haven't even hit 1,500kms on my 10 series. =/

I've been using Shell V-Power since the first tank from the dealer. Chirping comes up once in a while but it's not too bad. A few days ago, I put half a tank of PetroCan 91... chirping is really evident... kinda annoying. Back to Shell for me.
