i didn't read the entire posts, but isn't a hybrid technology be same thing?

Even with large capacity battery and most of the energy recycled and transferred to the battery pack, it still isn't enough to create massive power. With a simple add-on type of scenario, it wouldn't be too much beneficial at all (maybe 10-20 hp). Plus you would need some short of extra battery large enough to accommodate the power, which could hurt the space and lightness of the car as well as performance. Also with a hybrid application, it generates a "burst" of energy not a long-term "track orientated" power. Cars like Tesla Roadster can only generate full power for very short period.

It wouldn't be a whole lot cheaper or simpler by the time you add the (high quality) electric components (microcontroller, speed controller, brushless motor, etc). You could have $500-1000 just in the drive system and controls. It seems simple until it isn't :).

True it may be an easier install and perhaps a bit cheaper, but not by much if any.

I call $1800 for a kit you can install in two hours a lot cheaper and easier than a full time FI system.
Remember, this isn't intended to compete against full time systems. It's not for racing, it's for guys who want an easy to install system that will give them some more grunt when they need it. Like pedal to the metal passing situations or the occasional stoplight showdown.
Plus it comes out just as easy for trips to the dealership.

Gotta say i am excited to see how this will be on our cars

I'm not referring to the kit offered above. I'm talking about apples to apples, if you wanted to build an electric system that could compete with what's out now, or better it in some way.

Electric turbochargers and a piggyback engine controller. This sounds like a great idea and the wave of the future. :D
