Are the Nanodrive transmission fluids safe to use on a DD/AutoX car?

Yes, I'm running Millers CRX 75w90 NT in my trans and diff. http://performanceracingoils.com/crx-75w90-nt-p-42.html

Asinine oil question, but you all seem to be experts:

I have a BRZ and 2011 outback 2.5 that uses 5w30. I also have a case of M1 0W-40 left over from my E46. Neither sees track time. Safe for mixing in the BRZ as mentioned earlier in this thread (maybe when I get 1qt low) or a full swap in the outback?

Aside from that I love learning about oil, it's one of the things I'm just not as up to speed on.

It is not rated for these cars so if you do damage it, SOA is not going to cover it. I know that Dennis will argue but Motul tech dept has advised us to not use the 300v in extended interval changes for street cars that heat cycle often. It is meant as a racing oil.

Personally in a street car the 0-20 Motul x series will be more than enough IMO.

Mike

Spec for the BRZ is 0W-20, as stated in the owners manual. Using a 0W-20 oil therefore does not violate warranty.

So I almost have a 1000 miles on my car. I want to change the oil with motul. I dont track the car and if i do its probably once or twice thing a year. this car is my daily driver as well. I was wondering is it better to go with the 8100 0w-20 or the 300v 0w-20?

8100 is not a full synthetic. Would you *probably* be okay? Probably. I won't say for sure until someone actually run it and posts a series of oil analysis that show that it's fine.

Is 300V *more* than you need? Sure. Will your engine love you for it? Yes! I'd recommend you start with a 5000 mile oil change interval on 300V, and then get your oil analyzed and see how much life the oil has left. Everyone's usage patterns are different.

Not quite apples to apples, but I've discovered that 10k oil changes are too short on my s2k, but 12k is too long. I'm trying 11k this time around (and sending off a sample).

*edit* I'm thinking 6100, which is not a full syntehtic, and is what Motul pushes locally. 8100 is a full synthetic.

The manual also specs SM rated, 300v is NOT SM rated.

The only Motul that is SM rated in 0-20 is the 8100 Eco-Lite

Mike the 8100 is a full synthetic. I think you are thinking of something else like 6100...

States 100% synthetic.

So i would rather go with the 300v then since my car would love it more. I rather use what is a better oil but not harmful and i would consider doing my oil changes every 5000 miles.

The 300V is NOT SM Rated, therefore you *may* have issues with getting warranty work done and it costs a ton more than the 8100 series which IS SM rated. The 8100 is full synthetic, Mike was in error when he posted that the 8100 is not synthetic, he was actually referring to the 6100 series.

Change my oil with Millers Nanodrive 0w20. I had about 3500 miles on the Motul 300V 0w20 that was in the crank case previously. Looked good coming out when draining. There was a noticeable difference in smoothness of operation. There was an independent test conducted on the Twins using Millers Nanodrive and the results showed that it increased 6HP and 4FT/LBS in the upper RPMs. My butt dyno tells me that it's pulling harder past 5000RPMs. Pretty damn impressive for an oil change. I then decided to take it on a 100 mile round trip around a twisty road with some highway. Checked the oil level and it was set. Not only that, the oil was still pretty new looking.

On a side note, my PCV catch can had about a teaspoon's worth of oil after 1000 miles. And the crankcase ventilation catch can had a little less than that.

Very impressed with the oil thus far. I hope it holds up in the long run.

Just wanted to follow up on this... I've been using the Motul 300v 5w30 in our Project BRZ on track and street. Changing it after about 5 track days and 3000 miles combined street/track. Blackstone appears to like it so far.

Thanks for posting the oil analysis. Is this the older or new formulation of Motul 300V 5w30?

These containers are all produced in late 2013. So I'm not sure if that's new or old formulation. I would think it's new.
