Thanks for the reply. They are the most local Subie dealer to me, so its nice to know they arent too ridiculous.:thanks:

Putnam Subaru listed the BRZ base for 8k above MSRP, I contacted the internet dealer and said he could give me an deal which was he lower it to 6k above MSRP...insane.

I found one in CO and ask them to ship...dealer charging $750 -$800. I just don't want to break-in a new car 15 - 18 hrs hard and immediate have 1000 miles on it when new...plus no time to do that.

PMok 08-21-2012 02:38 AM

yeah i feel the same way... but I also have some reservations about having them ship the car sight unseen - basically you've bought the car without ever test driving it. I guess anything weird would just have to be resolved under warranty.

I got my paperwork in Fedex today, after this step the car will be on the truck. I will ask them to take some pics before load the truck and I will put my insurance effective before loading, even there may be some cheap trucking insurance for the shipping. In this crazy BRZ shortage, I can only trust Subaru production line and their warranty, cannot ask for too much. I also noticed I have to pay a 1.1% RTD tax for State of CO and some unknown title/license fee :mad0260:...

wow, well you're going to get the car even quicker than me, mine won't be in until next month. so you get to be one of the few, the proud, the BRZ owners in NorCal who didn't pay over MSRP. I'm curious to see how many days it takes to arrive via truck, keep me posted. :w00t:

Idiot Circus Boy 08-22-2012 11:52 AM

The WRB BRZ at Broadway in Oakland might still be available.
If you're still looking for one, be sure to ask for Erdi if you're going to check it out.

Just for fun, Burlingame has a Whiteout M/T with Catskinz *Heating* Leather Seats, an additional/upgraded sound system with an extra speaker, BeSpoke, and the other Scion accessories...

All for $34,347!! If I were to buy it, I would need to pay around $37,600 including taxes and reg.

Crazy, but they were told to stop putting the add-ons.

Gannicus77 08-23-2012 01:01 PM

Just got a call from Robert Riley at Merced Toyota. They just got a Whiteout 6AT. These guys are great and they will sell at msrp. sdlynx bought his 6MT there for msrp. Hury up cuz this one will not last long.

Did Scion /Toyota Corporate come down on them? That's good news if so =)

District officials spoke to the managers!

I also went to Momentum Scion in Fairfield, they have a Whiteout M/T and are adding a s-load of extras like rims, alarm, tint, and are planning to also sell for 34k.

Hanlees Scion in Davis has a Firestorm M/T with 80 Miles and leather seats, but they did discount to 26.8k from 28.3k! PM me and I can refer you to the guy if interested. He was really helpful and did his best to lower the price.

Bones36 08-24-2012 09:50 PM

So I am ordering my brz in September and I can't find a dealer in the bay area selling at msrp. Is Lithia Reno Subaru my only hope?

PMok 08-24-2012 10:12 PM

check out my previous posts in this thread ... Lithia or Heuberger in CO are selling at MSRP or slightly below. Heuberger has a black Limited BRZ on the way that looks to be available. If you want to buy in Sept. or place an order, I'd put a deposit down now. You will have to be pretty lucky (sure, it happens) to just show up and buy one when you are ready.

86BRZ 08-25-2012 01:32 AM

Try Andereas at Stevens Creek Subaru, when I order with them it was MSRP and $250 refundable deposit. No sure their policy now.

I called them and spoke to the internet sales manager/rep and he told me some lady reserved a white premium brz from them 2 months ago, I guess she got impatient and bought another car. So I took over her order with no deposit. Still no ETA on the car, but hopefully I'll get it before it starts raining :)

It's at MSRP plus delivery then taxes and reg should be around 28-29k for me.

shrike92 08-25-2012 05:58 AM

Thank you for the info PMok. Just reserved that black limited in CO. Has the options I wanted from the factory anyways and they did 600 under MSRP (and then added dealer handling etc).

Only down side is that they're telling me that SOA is not offering a lease on this car in August. I spoke to Jeff and he said they'd check again in September. I'm ok with financing it but would have preferred a lease.

I can't believe how hard this has been. I've been checking almost every dealership in CA for weeks and it seems like all the ones who have units are marking up like crazy, and the rest do first-come-first-serve.

I'm just glad to have it locked in for late September!

I have been emailing Lithia Reno Subaru and they want a $1000 non refundable deposit.

Chuck Patterson in Chico has a Whiteout FR-S 6MT, no markups.

nice. :happy0180:

yeah it's the frustration with all the CA dealerships that ultimately pushed me to look outside the state. but aside from the wait (but almost everyone has to wait) it's a win-win, get the car and pay less than MSRP.

yeah, I was a little hesitant about that too, but hey if you have your mind set on buying a BRZ I truly believe they or Heuberger are your best bet. They will most likely get you the car this year, whereas otherwise you are hunting around in CA and *might* get one this year. These two dealerships are taking orders and not marking up. Sure you could get lucky and find one suddenly available locally that someone else flaked on, AND maybe it will be available at MSRP, but I took the "conservative" bet, I wasn't in a super rush anyways. If I was in a rush to get one, I probably would have just bought a FR-S, they are far easier to come by.

I'll second this statement.. Heuberger has been pretty good with my blind purchase.. Car will be on a truck Monday en-route to my porch. About a month from first inquiry to signing paperwork :D

Veloist 08-26-2012 02:34 PM

Can anyone refer me dealerships that don't add on unwanted accessories/mark-up, other than City and One Scion. I'm going to contact them regardless if they have one in stock or not...

Thanks

Edit:

SF Scion has a Whiteout A/T no plates on bumper. Not currently for sale...probably getting some "stuff" installed.

Yuck 08-27-2012 12:45 PM

If you checked the "used" section at SF Scion, you'll see MY raven black AT for sale. That's my car where the motor blew out...they rebuilt it and are selling it as an used car, but notice the price is as if new.

Wow. That is pretty shady of them. What happened to the engine / how did it blow?

Technician told me that a bolt from the steering wheel shot into the motor and shredded the entire thing when I was driving. Pretty nuts...still haven't got my replacement car yet either.

That's pretty insane. That must have made a horrible sound. How many miles did you have on it?

Had the car for only 24 hours, put 100 miles on it. To and back from work and then RIP for the FRS.

Glad to hear they didn't just try to shuv the fixed car on you but are going to replace it. Now I guess the wait begins for the replacement? I am on a wait list at SF Toyota as well. I heard somewhere in between 2-3 months? I'm wanting a whiteout though.

I saw that car...with the shark fin antennae. Did not know that it had an unfortunate history. But thanks, that's good to know especially if someone was planning to buy it, who browses the forum,

Astrobeez - supposedly four FRS's are coming in tomorrow, I'd give them a call if you are ready to buy. The manager also has a whiteout AT for sale with 3000 miles on it if your interested, that just went up on sale on Saturday and it looks like it's still there.

Veloist - Yeah, supposedly the car runs smooth now with the new motor, but obviously its a "used" car because of my situation. Wonder what they would say if you went there in person and asked why its used? :D:D:D

.

Just for future buyers, as of 8/27/12 the following sell at MSRP:

City Toyota Scion, Daly City, CA (upon availability or wait list)
Merced Toyota Scion, Merced, CA (upon availability or wait list)
Chuck Patterson Scion, Chico, CA (upon availability, unsure about wait list)
Scion Vacaville, Vacaville, CA (pre-order deposit and wait list only)
One Scion of Oakland, Oakland, CA (Wait list and deposit)
Melody Scion, San Bruno, CA (wait list only)

I've been calling dealerships all around NorCal and these are the ones that have confirmed they sell at MSRP, and are also backed up by testimonials on the thread.

My wait will be over soon. The truck will pick up the car this Thur/fri and deliver next Tue. The driving is only 2 days as you know but I guess they may have some other shipment to pick up or deliver in some other cities. Technically, the car is mine now, sitting in a showroom a few states away for another few more days.

PMok 08-28-2012 03:28 AM

I like to peek in on Heuberger's site from time to time to see what they have coming... right now as of this posting they have two BRZ's in transit that are available, one WRB Limited and one GBS Premium. The Premium must have some accessories on it because its MSRP is almost as much as the Limited. As before though I am sure they will be selling these without markup. So if you are interested and contact them, ask for Karen in the Internet dept and tell them PMok sent you ... I dunno with all the business I am referring to them maybe they will treat me even nicer and throw a hat or something in with my car. :D

Colorado? That's a bit far from NorCal.

PMok 08-28-2012 10:17 PM

Take the time to read thru this thread... You'll see most CA Subaru dealers are marking up or straight up gouging. NorCal and SoCal. The CO or NV dealers mentioned 1) get cars more frequently, 2) sell at or under MSRP, 3) will ship car to you. Getting mine at below MSRP, even shipped to me. I hope in a year people will look back and laugh at this because BRZs will be a dime a dozen and easily found on a CA dealer lot anywhere, but for now, it's your best chance. But good luck with your searching, report back if you find one avail nearby at MSRP.
