Get this! So I am driving down Woodward this evening and I see a bunch of guys standing around a few motorcycles and what looks like mustangs, maybe a meeting of their owner's group (we should just meet up like this informally in a parking lot). So I hit the Michigan U-turn and come around the corner and power slide about 35 feet, the tires were screaming and as I come by those guys every single face was looking and staring and pointing ( my fiancee was laughing her head off at how open mouthed they were). Just thought I would show them they bought the wrong car!

FR-S_Tacoma 03-29-2013 08:47 PM

Does anyone know anything about body work/fiber-glassing etc? Here's why I ask:

I want a spoiler that doesn't exist (at least not yet) for my FR-S. Basically I want it to follow the contours of the rear/trunk but sit off the truck by an inch or maybe two.

So like how the 3000gt spoiler follows its contours (although with a 3000, that ends up being alot more flat)
http://www.3si.org/gallery/data/500/medium/IMG_0460.jpg

Now take that general idea and apply it to the FR-S. What do you think? Thoughts/suggestions/ideas?

Now this is entirely conceptual, so its not like I am hell-bent on anything lol

hobojoker 03-29-2013 09:25 PM

Not my thing, but that sounds like it could be really nice. I'd like to see it done well. I have nothing worthwhile to contribute to the actual production of a concept though, sorry.

I'd give you guys a hand but I'm in Wisconsin for the weekend. If you haven't bought any yet check out autozone. The duralast ones are pretty decent and fairly inexpensive.

Good luck with the plastidip!

This weather has been great! Now that my wife is not 8-9 months pregnant she likes when I slide the car around :D (My sister was watching the youngling)

Also got to dedage the BRZ. I also have a fix to keep the rear license plate from touching the paint.

I used some bubble wrap, but now that I think about, I will have to get some of those adhesive-backed silicon bumpers that one uses on the back of picture frames located on walls. Adhesive-backed foam strips would also do the job - all being attached to the plate.

Dipped my wheels!

I won't spam this thread with pictures, but I made one here:

Passed a red BRZ today on 275 north heading on to 696. Looked like a young guy with glasses driving. Anyone on here?

Wheels look great! I will be taping your knowledge sometime next month to do mine. I want to do them now but stupid work is keeping me out of town 3/4 weeks in April. Can't wait to see these in person.

Very nice. Something I plan on getting around to eventually. I think they look even better on the Subies than the Scions because the blue in the center cap logos stands out really well against the black.

I was thinking about a license plate kit like the one from Dynamat. Obviously leave the crappy frame off.

kask2_6.0 04-01-2013 11:47 AM

Double sided foam tape works nicely. Like $3 for a roll at home depot. The screws don't really hold my plate on they're just kinda there. I think I showed someone this at the last gathering

Sevs753 04-02-2013 05:48 PM

I found this today at CVS. Its a 'pull-back' car, a little bigger than my palm. They had White, Black, Red and Orange. Sadly, only FRS, no BRZ.

Something else to add to my ever more ridiculous collection of desk toys.

Just saw a blue brz on evergreen by hfcc at 3:00

racecaresuaceb 04-04-2013 12:56 AM

Spotted: WRB LTD BRZ East-bound on I-94 near Ann Arbor (exit 169) ~2:45PM today (4/3). I was West-bound.

Cameronghanson 04-04-2013 10:23 AM

Spotted gray BRZ in Rochester Washington area. I think I've seen it before around here. Looked like an older guy. Anyone here?

FR-S_Tacoma 04-04-2013 09:48 PM

If anyone is interested, myself and a couple of the other Grand Rapids FR-S owners are turning this car show at one of the local universities into a mini-meet along with some of the 3000GT/Stealth crowd. If anyone's free, I'd love to have some BRZs come out and say hi... and obviously other FRS owners are invited as well haha

Rundown: April 13th, 11AM-3PM, usually a 100+ car turnout so its getting up there in size.

More info/registration can be found here: http://www.gvcarshow.com/?view=home

oh and its a FREE event so no worries there!

Installed my CF eyelids. Pretty subtle but I like it especially with my side mirrors

Very nice. Much more subtle than I would have guessed but a really nice touch.

Yup, what Cameron said.

I couldn't see the spoiler but I spotted the fogs.

racecaresuaceb 04-05-2013 10:19 PM

Quick question, do you guys know any touchless car washes in Sterling Heights near Kart 2 Kart?

I will be driving ~130 miles so it might be good to clean up the old girl before the event.

Why is it that every TDI Gulf I come across wants to race me? I really don't drive like a douche bag. But I get a lot of cars and people who line up and try and get me to race them. lol

BRZfan 04-06-2013 10:24 AM

I suspect that it is all in one's head. Many people just want to get to where they are going quickly just as myself with this car. We are different people when we get in different cars. Your situations may be different from mine but with the situation you describe, I would just roll out normally and not let yahoos, knuckleheads or mulletheads bother me.

No I don't race a single one of them. But they are for sure racing me. They rip their tires loose and speed away. I guess maybe it is because I make eye contact with people around me. I was looking at their car and maybe they thought they had to prove something lol. Yeah I don't get worked up or bothered about it, kind of funny to me, just saying I seem to be a magnet for races.

For sure. It is kind of funny, sometimes I will take off real fast with them and then peel off at the speed limit and they go on for another 30 mph or more and I just wait for the day the cops pull them over. They love to do it on Woodward and that road is a police magnet.

Haha I can't lie. I kinda do the same. At the red light rev a little bit and inch forward then when it turns green just go like normal and see them peel away and realize no one is racing them haha

I would only race someone if I had a giant set of curves in front of me, this car doesn't beat many cars in a straight line lol.

Cameronghanson 04-06-2013 08:06 PM

Spotted a dark gray BRZ around 4 or 5 on south Rochester road...anyone on here?
