I have heard bad things about the pressure and harsh detergents from touchless washes being bad for paint. Is it possible just to get an undercarriage wash at these places?

I've looked but have been unable to find anywhere close that offers just undercarriage. I guess its a choice between salt and rust or possible paint damage. I don't like either option.

Oh and where are you local owners washing your car during these months? I've been hitting up the auto touchless wash in Bridgewater. I don't trust that Prestige Wash in Raynham.

i use the one off 44 in plymouth at the mobil, near colony place. have beein using it for years

I know where that is. Do they offer undercarriage?

i use a haffner's self serve coin car wash.they keep the water turned on all winter,so i wash for free! there is enough "boot" (pressure) in the wand when squeezed
to effectively get the salt off the car!

Sometimes car washes recirculate or ineffectively filter water washed off of cars. So if it isn't fresh water, you might just be pumping more salt water into the recesses of your car.

jmaryt 12-30-2012 01:36 PM

this is correct, but haffner's uses only fresh water.

I had to reset my windows twice over the weekend. The ice and snow trip the default mode so that the windows go down, but won't go up. I figure that Toyota is paranoid about someone's extremity getting caught in a window, hence when it senses an obstruction it will only go down.
In case anyone has missed previous postings on this issue, the reset is easy.

Turn the car off, then move the key to the "On" position.

Push the window switch down twice.

Then pull up on the switch.

Normal operation should resume.
