If we take away the fenders, lights, trunk, etc., it looks like it is the same body as the '12-'15 model. I believe this is the announcement for the new "face lift" rather than a whole new BRZ. That also means that it won't get any performance upgrades, or at most a retuned ecu making 10hp more.

Car looks heavier, which means it needs more power or it will be slower. |

But really, my opinion is just as likely or unlikely as anyone elses, including speculating that it will have any performance upgrade at all. So we'll all just enjoy the debate over all of this speculation until we see it on showroom floors, haha! |

If it is a production model and doesn't have more power, the internet will choke. |
I hope Subaru will redesign the WRX in a few years cause I want a WRX too

Don't various states have height restrictions on DRLs and foglights? For instance, in California foglights must be from 12 to 30 inches off the ground. I can't help but think that a light strip at the bottom edge of the bumper wouldn't meet that requirement.
Which makes me think that this is either a concept car made purely for the car show circuit or that it won't be coming to the US. If it is coming to the US, I would not expect that bottom light section to be there. |
They wouldn't debut a car at the New York show if they didn't intend it for the US market.

The fancy lights and extreme angles are probably the design concept preview. I would bet a production version, if that is what it comes to be, will be somewhat tamed, just like the original FT86 concept.

You know....this would be the perfect April Fools joke for the BRZ community...

Looks fake to me. Almost like someone photoshopped a small scale model into a showroom floor. Shadows seem off, people seem strangely blurred. Focus is weird.
I am betting on a April fools joke. |
Concept or special edition.
Gonna be some sad faces when reality is announced I fear. (would love to be proven wrong though) |
