Because those that know that history of the Hachi know it should be a Toyota.

It is as much as you have a conflict of interest. You own a Scion and think it is a great car. That is great. But not everyone agrees with you on that. I sure don't

Actually when my wife and I looked at cars we did. That is why we currently don't have a Scion in the family. Scion is an under performing division. Hopefully Toyota kills it off sooner rather than later. That is why I want the 86 as a Toyota for the eventual death of Scion.

aaaand im out. no scion for me. to me scion means cheap, low rent interior with lots of hard plastics for low 20k. i may drive well, but just the fact that its a scion means it will be held back to it full potention because of price constraints. oh well...on to the subie version.

There you go, you're looking at positive side. LOL

Look, I hate the Scion brand as much as the next guy, but that's only because I don't like any of their cars, and most of the people I meet that drive Scion Tcs are douchebags and bitches, but thats's just an observation.

If this comes out with all the right things, I really don't care what they call it. Here's an example.

Let's say this was 1999, and honda was going to bring out the S2000. In JDM land, it would be called, S2000, in USDM land, they decided to make it an acura and call it, oh IDK, the Acura XXSTIGSXR. Would you think worse of the S2000? How about if they decided to let suzuki bring it over for some reason, and Suzuki calls it the Aveo Plus? Any difference? I didn't think so.

If the car comes out, and it is awesome, a little bit of packaging and option difference is not going to put me off. Also, I read somewhere that Scion dealers are some of the best in the country, but what do I know....

So once again, I say, calm the fuck down people, wait for it to come out, if it's awesome, line up to buy it, after me, and if they call it the Scion stinkbugger, debadge it, or rebadge it and call it the JDM name, or Euro name, or just call it bob. Who cares, I'm a driving/car enthusiast, not a name enthusiast.

Did you expect premium leather seats and soft touch everything at this weight and pricepoint? I don't think so....

Screw this car, they just lost a bunch of sales. Let's all write letters to Toyota, who has a marketing department that isn't worth shit.

We don't have to though. We have a better alternative car, and it's a Subaru.

Archer256 04-13-2011 05:47 PM

Im raging right now, so DAMN HARD.

BUT.

BUT.

I will give Scion ONE chance - the interior. If the interior is good, nice quality, then fine i will continue my pursuit. HOWEVER, i swear to God if this things interior is cheap like the rest of the lineup, no sorry im gunna wait for the new IS and upgrade after college i dont have the time nor the resources to gut and redo the interior myself.

We dont need premium BMW/Lexus/Mercedes quality leather seats, the Genesis coupe has decent leather anything on that level at minimum is acceptable, but chances of a nice interior feel like they were shot down.

chulooz 04-13-2011 05:47 PM

I called this one. No matter though, Ive always been into the Subaru counterpart, just looks like there is going to be a lot more subie newbies logging on in the next year.

How does asking you to clarify your statement, have anything to do with my car? The only thing Factory optioned on my tC is the LSD (and I didn't buy it from factory, I bought it years after I've owned the car and took out the trans and shipped it off for PTuning to drop my LSD in it).

Exactly the opposite for me. I compared what we would be getting out of a Base RSX and compared to what I got out of the tC. The tC was WAY more car for the price. So rode home with the tC.

He isnt the point of the story is that it's just a badge. And how it makes no difference in the car.

I am of the same, a badge is a badge the engine and performance are all the same. My only problem is the interior might be compromised now.

Toyota4Life 04-13-2011 05:54 PM

Attention everyone:

Bombard Toyota's Facebook with posts exclaiming how you don't like this decision. Write letters to Toyota USA, Jim Lentz, any of the execs. It's a long shot, but we need to at least let the idiots know they're making a huge mistake, because lord knows when executive egos get in the way, they don't know what harm they cause.

Be constructive, but make the point known: NO SCION, or NO SALES.
