I've retired for the season. Need to pay off my new golf clubs and motorcycle gear I bought.

John, if my dashcam hadn't died Sunday, I'd have some exciting video for you. It was so interesting watching your line and car on tip-toes through the turns. Very impressive to see our nearly stock cars so competitive with other vaunted marques like Porsche.

Josh and Doug, thanks for the pics. Josh, your car looked and sounded well sorted as you passed me uphill. Spectators liked it too, several stopping to take pics and commenting on the sanitary s/c installation while you were away at lunch.

Still undecided about the Alfa Club day. I usually put the FR-S into storage between Oct. 1 and Apr. 1 but might reconsider depending on weather.

Decay107 09-10-2014 01:58 AM

Depending on weather, I plan to be out there for the Alfa day.

Lunatic 09-10-2014 02:25 AM

I'll be at ORP this coming weekend for two club days. Anyone else going?

I like to think it was our superior driving talent, but you're right it probably was the cars. :D

Would love to see all of you guys in Oct, but that one is weather dependent for me too.

In my post after "stock cars" add "in the right hands".

No doubt you were getting the most out of your car and tires and smoothly, too!

I wouldn't mind light showers at AROO day but if it's a deluge the track tends to form huge puddles and wouldn't be much fun.

some footage from the last ORP event

fellow member @Lunatic (with No: 24 stickers on his FRS) also made it to the event

Phenomenal video that clearly shows the elevation changes. Loved every second, rain and shine, CW and CCW! Thanks for posting.

+1 I'm jealous. Saving up for my oil cooler. Can't wait to get out there.

Surprised there's still grass growing around those off-camber turns :)

glamcem 09-13-2014 06:03 PM

ORP is the most fun :) and I would recommend everyone to become a club member since it makes a lot of sense (financially) when all things considered ;)

Ooo, look. Look at your post-count.

Anyone else going to the CSCC track day this Saturday? Looks like it's only me and 1 other guy right now.

I'm debating on it.
Need to find time to change pads and fluids before I go.

myd_lyf_crysys 09-24-2014 11:00 AM

Just signed up... Hope we all get in the same group!

Decay107 09-24-2014 12:20 PM

I might, need to see where I'm at in terms of Pad/Tire wear after the last trip to ORP.

I'll come out and watch my coilovers are taking up my car budget for the rest of the year

Did Bob give you a map 2? If so you can pick up VP MS109 at a place called Northwest Solvents on Columbia Blvd in Portland. Be prepared though, it's $92.xx for 5 gallons. Since you mix it with 92 octane you'll get 2-3 tanks from it though and it's a good safety measure for the motor.

Haven't seen anyone in months, this will be even more fun if a decent 86 crowd shows up even if only hanging out. Which Coilovers are you picking up Brandon?

myd_lyf_crysys 09-24-2014 10:49 PM

"Safety measure" catches my attention... By boosting octane? We talked more about managing x-country changes in octane.

No map 2 that I know of, but certainly will ask when I'm back up there

@digital_assassin, Kevin, I wanted to run CSCC 9/27 but am having a vision issue affecting depth perception and the earliest I could get into a reputable eye guy with my insurance plan is 9/29.
@jblmr2, John, assuming vision improves after ? treatment, which AROO group are you entering on 10/5? It would be fun to run together.

Decay107 09-24-2014 11:39 PM

Tires and pads look good so I'll probably be there. Oil has a couple track days on it but the last UOA came back pretty clean after one, so I'm not too concerned if I don't get a chance to change it before the weekend.

Picking up hks hipermax sps price point is amazing for the specs... Only downside is probably not rebuildable in the us

Gotta learn to do it yourself! Can't be THAT different than motorcycle forks, I hope that is the case because my coilovers also have zero US support.

I'll run intermediate. Last year I was signed up for intermediate and switched to novice because there were so many cars in intermediate. Mistake...first couple of sessions were parades. Last year there were 2 crashes in the advanced group. A Ford GT hit the wall exiting T2 in the first session on the first lap (damp track cold tires):(. Corvette ZR1 lost his brakes in the second session in T11 and hit the tire barrier in front of the wall at pit lane:(. Guys be careful out there. Make sure everything is working before you got at it full speed.

I talked with that GT40 owner, Don, after unpacking and before the first stint. He said that nearly 25% of all 4,000 produced have wrecked and about 10% totaled, then cautioned me to take it easy with the cool, damp track.

Then he went out and stuffed his into the wall on lap 1. Poor guy, I was so embarrassed for him and don't think he returned to the pits afterward while the flatbed loaded his car.

Not Don's car, his was repairable, but 1 of the 10% (latest is 12%-14%) totaled:

we can learn together...mine are going to be inverted monotubes so ours should be pretty similar

But the Novice group became all 86s by the end of the day guess we aren't fun to drive with cause none of us can catch each other

Wasn't suggesting the 86's were a problem or that they weren't fun but one session doesn't a day make. I had some issues with others not giving point by's. Pretty common in novice groups.

yeah the slower cars(around turns) definitely made the novice group hard cause they just pulled on me in the straights

digital_assassin 09-25-2014 04:53 PM

HPDE Group on CSCC days is where it's at. My first time in the that group was August 7th and it was fun, not a slow person/car in the bunch.

I just checked the registered people for Saturday and see there is a McLaren running in the Novice/Intermediate group.

digital_assassin 09-25-2014 10:33 PM

Denise will be heading out to the track around lunch time. If everyone is interested she could stop and pick up pizza or Jimmy Johns. I think Jimmy Johns would be a good thing and everyone interested can just let me know what you want and bring the appropriate amount of $.

Also, I bring a canopy and a cooler so just bring a camp chair and you can use the shade and space in the cooler. This way we all don't need to prepare a ton of stuff. I'll bring plenty of bottled water for everyone as usual.

BRZPDX 09-26-2014 12:17 AM

I can come and hangout for a bit, my car is at the shop getting shit fabbed up and a retune for a bit more boost.

What time should I come to see the action?

Decay107 09-26-2014 12:20 AM

Should be going on pretty much all day from about 9-4

digital_assassin 09-26-2014 03:01 AM

Damn @BRZPDX, you need to get that thing on the track.

torqdork 09-27-2014 07:19 PM

Today, sorry about focus on some and missing other twin warriors, I had difficulty seeing and following all of the action today:

Maybe he shouldn't have gotten help with his "turbo boost". That was one of the strangest PA announcements I've ever heard. Felt bad for that poor SOB THOUGH. Were there 3 or 4 wrecks yesterday?

Sportington 09-29-2014 12:15 AM

There were the Subaru and the Radical shunts with damage. A few other debris incidents, but not aware of a 3rd wreck.
