Can't wait for my baby to come home to mama! Repair shop promised me delivery by tomorrow. This better be true because I want to make the drive!! :burnrubber:

I'll have to smudge / sage my car to keep the bad juju away. Not a fan of these "love taps" other drivers keep giving her!

PMok 08-28-2014 03:42 PM

I just wanted to mention something -- the drive before the meet is totally optional and if you are not comfortable driving on narrow and twisty mountain roads, it's perfectly ok to just join us at the meet at Eastridge Mall, at 11.

I don't normally discourage people from joining us, but this particular road, might just be ... Dun dun dun... the SECOND MOST DANGEROUS ROAD IN CALIFORNIA.

If you have concerns about:
-tire rubbing or ability to turn your steering full lock
-scraping or bottoming out
-reliability of your tires or brakes
-nausea or motion sickness
-getting rock chips or other cosmetic damage

then you might be better off just meeting up with us at the Mall.

Note, however, the 86DRIVE Stars will only be given out to those who join us on the drive -- and safely complete the drive. :)

Thank you, drive safely.

LOL it's kind of a running joke, that maybe only a few old-timers still get. Last spring we did a drive, that I called, Last Chance to Drive The Most Dangerous Road in California. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31663

It was a bit over-exaggerated but it was catchy and it helped us drum up a pretty decent attendance for the drive haha. And the Devil's Slide has now closed and was replaced by the far safer (but boring) Lantos Tunnels.

So... perhaps 2nd Most Dangerous is also an exaggeration for Mt. Hamilton, but at least this article puts it as #5 most dangerous in the Bay Area:

Yea definitely miss that road ! (Probably try biking it since there is now a trail instead)

Although the acoustics driving really fast through that tunnel at 1am are great

There was no shortage of 86DRIVERS wanting to get out there and have some fun in their cars this past Saturday. I counted at least 18 cars that joined us for the early morning ascent to the Lick Observatory atop Mt. Hamilton, and then several more cars joined us at the meeting point at Eastridge Mall in San Jose. It was a fun little drive though we saw quite a few cyclists making the climb perhaps due to the long holiday weekend. I’m always a little worried when we take a large group up there and we need to always keep safety as a priority on these drives.
Thanks a bunch to Tricia and Josh who brought donuts to share, and to Qui who made a food run to grab us some delicious egg rolls after the drive! I had to head home before long but I heard some of the group went into the mall for some seafood buffet action… hope that was enjoyable too!

More photos from the DRIVE and meet, are now up on 86DRIVE.

Lol when then??

Rachey's FR-S 04-09-2015 08:03 PM

Mid May?

86FRESH 04-11-2015 05:36 PM

Have we actually figured out a final day for the girls meet???

I think mid MAY should be good since some of us do not have normal weekends off.

It gives each and EVERYONE ELSE the time to request days off.

That way so at least most of us can attend.

BRZkitty 04-11-2015 11:26 PM

lol i don't even know my schedule yet for May. How about May 9th or 16th?

86FRESH 04-12-2015 02:15 PM

May 16 would be good!!!!! :) :) :)

BRZkitty 04-20-2015 05:29 PM

I think this date is too close to the summer kick off, lets plan to meet at the summer kick off event to pick a date. Thanks :)

maybe ask for a section at summer kick-off for the ladies to park together... @PMok can make that happen ;)

GTEASER 05-13-2015 07:02 PM

My lady just bought a BRZ, subscribed for next meet.
