I was reading a Race Tech or Racecar Engineering mag and it had an article on what motorsports does for the rest of us. Very impressed by one example. Some team of motorsports engineers heard that some of the UK's armoured vehicles needed replacement suspension parts and it would take 9 months to manufacture and get them to the Iraq or Afghanistan.

They were like WTF? They can design and build a completely new damper system from scratch, OVERNIGHT. So they decided to develop the next armoured truck for the UK. They had it designed, built, tested, delivered and in service in 23 weeks. From nothing but a requirements paper. Amazing.

Not as sexy as the LFA (yeah, yeah, I'm changing my opinion on it every time I watch the video of it ripping around Fuji), but still absolutely amazing.

Awesome story

Agreed. They have learnt a lot from F1, so It's good for them as a company. They also have an excellent engineering resource in the Former Toyota F1 factory.

The money from every LFA leased, goes back into the tooling up and development and research cost of the LFA. I.E. better sports cars for US in the future.

Yup. Nothing Advances technology faster than war and racing. Fact.

In case you want to gloat a bit, Matador, I will reveal here now, after my past 46 Million word collection of rants about the LFA I have reversed my position completely.

Reasons include:
Watching that Fuji commercial.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JpmZoZEIiI&feature=fvw

And most importantly, staying friends with my ex.

Relevance you ask? Her new father-in-law and brother-in-law both work for Toyota, one in Nagoya and the other in Shizuoka (by Fuji) at an R&D facility, Higashi-Fuji. And her father-in-law is pretty high up apparently, talk of golfing with some of Toyota's board members. So I have this strange sensation that my chance of driving an LFA is no longer the 'NEVER' (absolute-fucking-zero) I previously stated. More like 0.00001% chance, pending a series of fantastic, positive coincidences and planetary aligments.

But no longer zero.

(Plus I have a shot at free pit passes/luxury box for Super GT at Suzuka, as her new hubby works for Denso and they are a major sponsor. This is more in the reasonable 75% range.)

Lol you gold digger^^^^:laughabove::laughabove::laughabove:

After watching that vid, I'm kinda sad, the L-FA body lines look as if they were pulled from the supra itself, and i hope that that wasn't there try at a post supra supra, because then it looks as if I'll never drive one either

No reason to gloat. That's not me. I'm a car guy through and through with a racers heart and an engineers head. I'm glad that you can see the LFA through my eyes, as It's a really good view (and no, it's not through rose tinted glasses :bellyroll:).

That being said, I must say that now, I intensely hate you. Unless you take me for a ride along in the LFA and/or to Super GT races. In which cases we can be best friends. lmao

j/k.

I have stayed "friends" with most of my exes too, glad to see that it's paid off for someone else in more ways than just late night "hold me I'm drunk, I still want you" poon. :w00t:

I don't think it was ever meant to be. Perhaps a spiritual successor, in the same way the MkIV was a spiritual successor to the 2000gt (in which I see a lot more parallels wit h the LFA).

Hey Dimman, just remember your fellow supra owners, lol

My chances are still similar to winning the lottery. But now it's like I actually bought a lotto ticket. One in a million is still way better odds than zero. :)

Edit: Matador, Super GT race tickets are actually pretty cheap. 5000 yen which is like only $60 Canadian. It's the flight to get there that's the expensive part...

What, no pit pass, unlimited access, rubbing elbows with the racers and knocking boots with the pit babes treatment? :(

If that's $60 bucks then Japan is the most awesomest country in the world :bellyroll:

It's far from the first factory boosted Honda...

And the structural rigidity was a joke with the Del Sol... quite possibly the worst Honda product ever made IMO.

I think they should boost the new civics, with the k20.... That'd be pretty cool, to me

Well the current Autoweek claims a CR-Z with a 1.6L turbo engine with 160-200hp is coming.. (just for more confirmation of the OPs link)
