I think so too since this is my first manual car.

What RPM do you usually shift at?

I had a car that when shifting low in rpms (2.5k or under) the clutch would slip like crazy. Shifting at 3.5 or 4k solved the problem.

3k.

It's not as uncommon as you think. When I bought my first car I bought a 5 speed Taurus SHO with a bad clutch. Had it immediately replaced, then didn't realize there was such a thing as a "break in" period and toasted that brand new clutch in about 2000 miles. Lesson learned and have been good since.

I also worked at a used car lot a few months back(now at Subaru) and we had a girl in her early 20s come in. She was looking at a Toyota Matrix we had that we had put a new clutch in. She went on and on about how she drove a manual car this one time in Europe and how she had to have one. Well 15 minutes into that test drive it went from a new clutch to a friend clutch in record time. Needless to say she didn't buy the car and she of course blamed it on the car. Turns out she was driving around with her foot half pressed in on the clutch the entire time lmfao.

So moral of the story is you aren't alone, it happens just try to learn from your experience and move on to bigger and better things.
