I agree. I want to do this, but.... I am not sure. Maybe I will wait to do this when I do my Front pipe install.

will these make downshifting into second any smoother? SOmetimes when I don't rev match I feel like I have to force it into second going from third--> second

seems like that green monster is troubling for installation.

Here's a hint for getting that detent bolt back in. When using the 27mm deep socket, use some rubber shims to keep the detent from falling into the socket when getting it started. That's how @Cross and I got it done without wiping off the green stuff first.
After that, it was easy to remove and replace. |
Yes I tried cleaning it up but without a solvent so it just was not working. Did that and it went right in. Then we pulled it and did it again and no issues at all putting it in by hand then.

Installed mine today, took a little over an hour. Would've been alot easier if I had a lift and didn't have huge hands. Well worth the effort though, for sure.

For those of you concerned about what to use to clean the threads out, pick up a set of these picks. They're cheap and so very useful![ATTACH]

Thanks for the hints !!

For european installers: there is extra sound proofing in the ceiling of the gearbox housing giving even less space. I had to shorten the 10mm Allen key by a cm to be able to unthread the left side plug. The 27mm detent was "easy", had a good assortment of ratchets and adaptors so found one that fitted, putting it back is a matter of threading it back by hand so threads engage properly before using tools.
Totally worth the effort, this mod not only centers the gearshift, more importantly it increases the strength of the locking/clicking into each gear and has for me transformed the shift experience by removing the sometimes slightly grinding/flimsy feeling one could get when selecting any gear, esp. 2nd and 3rd. |
Hi guys, just got these springs. I was wondering if I need to apply loctite when I reinstall the threads? I was looking at the loctite guide and I ended up with the grren Loctite 290 wicking grade.

Nope, you don't. Just tighten to the specified torque.
On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should. |
