They didn't have the road car on display in NY guys. Just the race car. I can post pictures once I figure out my digital camera.

I was there on Thursday, they had both the race car and the road car.
Road car was in the "SRT" booth.

Really? On Easter it was nowhere to be seen. Should have gone the last weekend instead, but couldn't make it there.

Is it just me or did not seem like the engine mods list was.....unimpressive?

IM, intake cam, forged pistons + Na exhaust valves, better cooling, lightweight flywheel, minor exhaust work... And...that's about it.. Not really enough to put this engine back in with the current engine trends, IMHO. That thing is a dinosaur.

Don't get me wrong, the Viper is crazy, and personally I'd prefer this over a C6 any day (hah, if I ever had that much money), but I just feel like after all this time it should be something a little more revolutionary, in terms of technology - especially at that price.

i totally agree. imo it all comes down to money. they just didnt have the budget to make a "better" engine. they did just enough to say its new and improved, but lets be honest here, that +40 hp is nothing in the grand scheme of things. as a package im sure the new car is great, but still, it feels more like a refresh than a whole new car built from the ground up...

Agreed, and well said.

LFA over this because of class and exclusivity.

I will totally be rooting for SRT Viper Racing in ALMS.

Soo.... this car has an automatic transmission?!? But I thought real racers only drive stick!

Yes, I bought an auto FR-S.

Yeah, I was confused as well, but in the video the driver never moves his hand to shift or even flip a paddle shifter....

n2oinferno 06-19-2012 11:11 PM

You can see the paddles. Most (all?) ALMS cars have sequential manuals in them.

Quite a big difference from a consumer auto flappy paddle box.
