@ATL BRZ. That looks like less than 1mm to my tired eyes. With a graphite type gasket I think it should seal. Regardless, I agree with the principle that if you buy something it should defect free.

May I ask what type of gasket you were planning to use?

I have new OEM gaskets ready to use.

I'll let you borrow my belt sander, that should only take but a minute to make perfect

You guys are crazy not to use the UEL Header from JDL Autodesign. Get that thing. It is soooo sexy and you can't beat their craftsmanship

I'll stay with my Borla and save 350$ and I bought a HKS front pipe with that.

I do not buy a header to mount it onto my wall and look at it because it is a piece of art. It's a car part that goes under my car into the dirt.

The Borla may not be as beautiful as the JDL but you got the exact same result with both of them.

I agree with you here and that's why I originally purchased the Borla header. I just want one with perfectly flat flanges that will give me peace of mind and stay sealed.

Even the most non-engineer fabricators tend to know you should machine/fly-cut flange faces flat after you've welded them.......

The JDL is covered by a lifetime warranty to the original owner and it's on special pricing currently, not retail.

You get what you pay for with either header between Borla or JDL. I won't own another Borla product again because of the current issues and faulty design.

i had the warped flange, sent it back no problem and got another one thats perfect. still have to admit, i really dont like the sound. hopefully a catback will change it all.

and a jdl uel looks the same as the borla.. not that the looks of a header matters or is worth 300+ extra.

also for the warped borla, anybody can fix it if they want pretty easily instead of sending it in. but after spending that cash id want one done right. which is exactly why I sent mine back.

I just wish I had seen it sooner!

Getting my refund from Borla to apply it to a JDL UEL.

I just got in on JDL's group buy as a Borla UEL header refugee. I had to give up on Borla as they kept sending me headers with warped flanges. After the third header from what was supposedly the corrected batch STILL had a warped flange I requested a full refund which is now going towards the JDL UEL Header, which will ship with a better quality merge collector, better flanges, better welds, and a lifetime warranty as well.

I made a side by side comparison collage using @F1point4 's and @moto-mike 's pictures (hope you don't mind) to show the differences in quality between the two in case anyone was wondering what justifies the differences in price between the two UEL headers.

Top pics are the inside of each merge collectors. The JDL is a work of art, the Borla is a pics of the actual merge collector that @mkivsoopra received with his first replacement Borla UEL header; under warranty.

Note the lack of welding around the bottom of the Borla flanges. ^^^ My last Borla header had like three spot welds there, but they didn't go all the way around.

DAYYYUMMMMMMM !

the borla definitely appears to be of much lower quality than what the smaller shops are producing, but i think that's to be expected. it is mass production vs. producing by hand, after all. i can't imagine why anyone would pick this over the revworks offering at around the same price.

Lifetime warranty with the JDL vs one year with Rev works.

JDL includes flex joints to make it more durable, Rev works does not.

JDL has a better looking merge collector also, but that's just my opinion. I'm not an engineer or an expert on fabrication .
