I love going fast!

I see you have slightly wider tires on the same diameter wheels. What do you think of going with either lower-profile tires and the same width you have now on 17's or switching to 18's or even 19s at the same width?

Testing has proven that a non forced induction car with me in the seat is faster on 17" 225 with a enkei (LIGHT!) 8" wheel. the only reason to go to an 18" is if you had someone giving you tires and they didn't mind you losing. 19" are even worse...tires are springs and with geometry corrections in place so that the car distribiutes its weight transfer correctly SOFT IS FASTER...

I don't remember where I read it. But what's your take on front and rear bumper beams? Did you remove those? Do you remember how much each weighed and wether it made much a change in frame rigidity? I thought it was Robispec's car but can't remember.

Pulled both beams no change in stiffness.
Speedventures requires that we run at 2508 so we put the beam back in the rear.

On modern cars the bumper beams are for safety and damage reduction, they do little for stiffness. Plus a box shape isn't efficient for torsional stiffness.

I love what robispec has done to the car. I also hate it because his goals are different from mine so most of his mods are useless to me, like the crash beam removal and suspension. At the same time, I can see getting those Enkeis and and the oil/water radiator.

Light weight aluminum beams in the works!

Interesting, but hard to prove the safety of without a crash test or some serious computer engineering. Steel and aluminum act differently. If possible, go wider than stock for better offset protection.

Can you confirm the best wheel width you've found is 8"? I ask because your first post of the thread says you're on 17x9.0's...
