The chief engineering guy is talking about everything from Supra to 85.

What is the chassis code for 86 and Brz ? It's no ae86 like the corolla yes? And didn't they say t be hard to have the traditional subaru turbo engine with the Intercooler on tip due to space issues. I can't see a traditional one but definitely I can see some thing of an unorthodox setup. For Brz if it has a one. But I don't know much about FI I've only worked on a jackson racing superchragers on civic and never touched turbo. So yeah.

I'm starting to think that Subaru's new turbocharged motor is going to be FA based, whereas the FB20/25 series is mainly engineered for efficiency. I mean, if the FA20 has been *at this point* solely designed for the BRZ (sports car), why not put that same heart into the other performance-oriented vehicles (WRX/STI) in their lineup?

I don't believe they are going to put a turbocharged engine in the BRZ/FT86/GT/86/FRS any time soon. That will be years of R&D wasted on the N/A engine. They might make a turbocharged engine for the next model of the BRZ/FT86/GT/86/FRS. that can be in 2015 or 2016. The turbocharged FA20 might just go into the WRX/STI

Negative, you can take the FA20 and put it into the Impreza, XV and Legacy, then tuned for torque. Scion/Toyota would still be producing N/A models. Case closed.

Negative? so you are saying the not going to change anything on the engine for it to be boost safe from the factory? Are you saying they're going to keep a 12.5.1 ratio and just put a turbo on it? I dont think so. they going to tweak and change some stuff which is called R&D if they are going to release a turbo BRZ and that could be the next model which will be a few years from now. If they do release a turbo BRZ right away then that a waste of R&D for the N/A version. I love rumors. Anyway time will tell what they will do in the future with the BRZ.

12.5:1 CR is not impossible to put turbo, it's just hard to get more output. If they are looking for a couple tenths hp more, they can easily do it with 12.5:1 CR.

FMIC ANYBODY?

Any bets on who will develop the first, and secondly the best kit for BRZ ?

Allch Chcar 12-08-2011 01:24 AM

Guys, the Rumor isn't whether to put a turbo in the 86 twins. It's whether to build the next gen turbo engine on the FB or FA. At least according to SOA blog... add salt to flavor.

It's pretty obvious from the throttlebody placement that the turbo engine displayed was for one of the AWD Subies. If they displayed an engine with the correct throttlebody placement than it would be different.
