honestly guys will i get in trouble for having a catless frontpipe in CA?
how do the cops know anyways? are they that smart?

instaling catless frontpipe doesnt hurt the car at all including o2 censors or any other censors on the car?

ngabdala 11-27-2012 12:44 PM

Removing the 2nd cat won't throw a CEL. The one at the header will.

so there are 2 catconverters on exhaust system? will removing the frontpipe with the resonator and cat be illegal in ca?

ngabdala 11-27-2012 01:46 PM

Removing, relocating, replacing with aftermarket CAT is illegal on brand new cars like ours.

You could have a local shop cut it out and then weld in pipe once removed.

Best bet I would think is to snag the catless version now.

Can you provide any additional info on the resonator? Is it straight through or baffled, any decrease in power, etc?

karma003 04-10-2013 08:27 PM

Whether its a new car or old one, anything catless is illegal in California.
You won't necessarily get in trouble for running catless, you just won't pass your smog check. For that reason, I STRONGLY recommend saving your stock front pipe if you decide to go with a catless front pipe. You can always switch back to stock when your smog check is due or take it to a shop that can pass it for you, but its impossible to find a shop like that nowadays.
Hope this helped.
