Hey what did you end up having to replace? I just had this happen and I’m curious if I need to replace the crankshaft or just the lil sprocket, I got the timing cover off I’m going to investigate further tomorrow

Any update on the repair for this?

There's a slim chance that you could get away with cold forging, basically peening some of the tweaked keyway back into place before deburring. The sprocket needs to come off either way. That's toast.

If you bust out the hammer and drift punch, make sure the crank is supported by something way heavier on the opposite side. Keep from whacking the internals.
...or it's possible that the crank is fine except for deburring the end of the keyway. |

Could i ask how this happened? How long did you run the motor, if you ran it at all. I ask because i ran mine for like a total of 1 minute i think and that ruined my timing so the motor came out regardless. I went with a built block but i did rebuild the oem block with the old crank. i sanded down the nose part of the crank where the half moon sits and replaced the crank sprocket. The OEM block runs fine and good. |
