dang that doesn't look too bad. please let us know if this works better than your v1. i like the idea of removing the other part of the airbox. makes the engine look much nicer...

Is the only difference between v1 and v2 the support locations and a plastic tube?

EvoXDD 08-10-2012 01:20 PM

Oh and I will dyno test v1 soon

xcelir8brz 08-10-2012 03:54 PM

V1 and V2 same pipe long pipe. V1 uses front of airbox, V2 does not. Different brackets as well.

I've liquidated my inventory of all long pipes and parts. I have a painted short pipe still available that can be used for CAI (2 inches shorter).

Thanks to everyone for the support and inspiration (and fun)!

I see you've pre-ordered an Airaid intake in the group buy thread. Why the change in direction from this DIY intake?

xcelir8brz 08-10-2012 04:48 PM

No change in direction. I wanted to compare for myself. No big deal. I love what I've done, and don't think the Airraid will cut the same sound. Just curious and for the money, worth the R&D comparison.

Considering you keep voting for a blank intake lid in the Airaid LE discussion, my guess is you plan to hybrid your stuff together with the Airaid box and claim it as your own V3...

What kind of R&D do you plan to do without an AFR gauge?

No matter what I say, I don't think you will believe me BUT....

I'm done with my R&D and the joy of doing an intake project on my car. I ran Don's first, and decided to do my own. It was small trials, no comparisons to other manufactured products. Was planning on AIRRAID the whole time, now it's out, will receive it, put it on, and if happy with it, I'll keep it on my car and sell my system. If I'm not happy with it, I'll sell the AIIRAID and revert back to my system.

I have a full time job that pays for my R&D and joy of tinkering with the car. That is what it was all about. Not creating a product for the masses, never was in the cards, and I fulfilled my goals of actually making something that worked.

Quite simple, actually.

One unpainted short tube left and that's it!
